I suppose the lad wanting out is the important peice.
I’m conflicted on this the lad has a contract until 2025. We could get a loan fee for him this year and sell him next after a good year in the Championship.
Then again will he top out at 7-10 mill.
Judgement needs to be made somewhere along the line. I suspect after brining in two strikers one younger than him would suggest he’s not part of a long term plan. I think that maybe triggered the lad.
Yep - if I'm honest, I've struggled to see exactly what he has going for him which might see him become a decent PL level striker. Even with Simms, I thought he mYbe had enough about him with his size and pace when he got going that he might eventually make the grade, but I'm not seeing anything in the Cannon cameos I've seen which make me see the hype.
The likelihood would be that even after a Championship loan, we wouldn't be seeing much more than £7m anyway (and that's maybe generous). If that's on the table now and we cover ourselves in case he sees any major upside, I can't see how we logically turn that down.
The Chermiti signing must tell him the writing is on the wall here, I don't blame him at all for wanting to move on. Hope he does well..
