I was as supportive of the appointment of Frank Lampard as anybody else. I really hoped it would work out and I still feel he is a thoroughly nice man.... dreadful manager but a nice man.
The board sat on their hands for too long and it nearly cost us the ultimate penalty. Frank then went on to do an even worse job at Chelsea.
However, for the first time in several years I believe the club have finally made the correct appointment as Sean Dyche being appointed showed the board finally accepting where Everton stands as a club currently rather that some delusional thought that we are better than we really are.
We need to sign more players this summer in key areas and I think we will get some , maybe not everything we need but at least some of the way.
Twelve months ago we brought in Onana, Garner,McNeill and
Tarkowski and these have all made a positive impact in the club and if we can replicate something like this then I think we are heading in the right direction and building a better squad.
However, we do need to realise that this is a gradual rebuild and will not happen immediately. The signing of Chermiti, Onana, McNeill and Garner are the building blocks of a team for two or three seasons down the line if we can keep them that long.
I can't say the future is bright but I can say that at present we are dealing with reality in a practical way and from that may come the bright future we all hope for.
