Yes pre season has just been a reminder of how poor we’ve been last 2 seasons we aren’t getting 4/5 signings in that we need or offloading any of the crap we need to move it’s a case of roll the dice again and see how we do. In saying that what I am hoping is Patterson is better than last season after playing last season and playing pre season, Onana is better after a season and we see more from him, a striker comes in DCL actually stays fit, Danjuma becomes important signing and Branthwaite is good enough to start, young should be a decent signing looked as good as anyone in the squad from pre season. Not hoping for much am I?

Sounds like it's all based on Atalanta selling old mate to Man U. I guess we can press our case as much as possible in the meantime, but the fact he is waiting for the dust to settle on that one suggests to me he'd rather peddle his wares over pasta, high fashion and a bottle of vino in Northern Italy as opposed to eating chip butty's and freezing his bollocks off on Merseyside.

Perhaps. Maybe they feel it come the end of the season but if they've had a good start the momentum could carry them.

We barely have a commercial department so I can see why we aren't involved. Raising our profile, earning more money to get a bit more quality in the door to rotate slightly overworked players would be better imo.

In the past two years we’ve had two commercial trips to the States and one to Australia. They might have gained a bit of coin but I’m not sure how much they’ve done for performance.

That season we started with Lukaku Jelavic Naismith Kone as striking options and had Mirallas Deulofeu as other options

Also had Anichebe McGeady knocking round too as well as genuinely good creative midfielders in Pienaar Barkley and Osman.

A relative embarrassment of riches. I’d probably even still take Vellios and McAleny now in this squad.

But he would be concerned if we withdraw our offer and then the deal to Atalanta falls through.

His agent could obviously come back to us at that point (and we could probably offer less), but the security of having 2 offers will make him less impatient.

One is scoring at a less than impressive pace in a pretty bad league and the other is playing in league 2. I get the sentiment, but even with the state of our current squad, neither would get a sniff for us.

Absolutely. It's been clear for days that this is what is happening. The lad clearly doesn't fancy us, but Atalanta don't have the cash yet to sign him. If we wait it out for an answer we all know will be negative, thus actually giving Atalanta the time to get their money, we really are a sham of a club. Set a 24 hour deadline, if not met move on.

This will be like the Giroud fiasco again if we don't get moving!

I guess, I just never understand the "Just walk away" logic.

We clearly feel as tho this player is the 1 we want, it looks like he has no interest in joining us, but it doesnt mean we withdraw our offer like a scorned 12 year old. I get it, we need players, but as I always say, we are trying to sign players for the 38 games this season and potentially the 38 games for the next 3 or 4 years. We arent signing players for August 2023.

And before people say it, a good start is vital, im vastly aware we need players yesterday.

Its also VERY possible to work on 2 deals at the same time.
