Intriguing to read Silva mentioning the summer window regarding Gomes and stating that Brands is working on it now and we have much more time to prepare for it.

Sounds positive.
Id certainly hope so, whilst i don't expect there to be loads of signings (prob about 4/5) they have to be the right signings, we can't afford anymore Mina's who are going to come in and miss half a season or Gomes who waits a month before he can start. Need to hit the ground running.

Problem is we find ourselves in the same situation as Martinez.

Its alright wanting the top players but whos going to come to a team sat in 11th/12th who is worth their salt?

We cant even tempt them with daft wages due to our finances and FFP.

Chicken and egg scenario.

Well hopefully that’s were Brands earns his money. Not all good players earn big bucks, there’s a difference between buying “stars” and building a competitive team

Just hope this Jarg Jose can get a tune out of them

I honestly have no hope for next season mate regardless of who we sign.

Felt the exact same way in Martinez's 3rd season knowing it was more of the same to come following the season prior.

Just waiting for the current fella to get the boot and hopefully Brands brings in someone to take us forward.

But we are not looking to sign top players though, we are looking to sign young up and coming lads who will be stars of the future, that is the Brands model which he did so well at PSV.

But what's the point if they aint coached right?

Real Madrid have some of the best players in the world yet they were poor under a coach who wasn't at the level required.

If we persist with Silva we need elite players who basically paper over the cracks (think Lukaku under Martinez but to a much greater extent as even he couldnt keep us from glorious 11th)

Werner, Rodriguez and Koulibaly - sign those 3 for example and we might have a good season. Highly doubt they'll join us in 12th and thats the problem.

More players of Richarlison, Digne and Gomes level wont do anything as we are 12th now!

Our first problem is that we need to sign players that are already at the club. We need to spend heavily to stand still. We then need to sign the most expensive type of player there is, a goal scorer.

This will be all new money, the players we can offload will not bring in much.

That is something you need to ask Mr Brands about mate, Silva is there to pick 11 players and line them up in a tactic each week, thats it. The actual coaching of the players will come from people like the caledonian galoot and the other backroom people. The coaching staff thing is something that has been mentioned on here before a number of times and i certainly would like to see exactly what the current GK coach does because someone clearly needs to grab a hold of that whopper Pickford and give him a kick up the backside. Brands did say when he came in that he was going to do an overview of all that stuff from senior down to youth level so we will see.

The job that Marcel Brands is to find the great players of the future, we nearly all could find the current crop of top players.
We have already been told that age and wages are big factors in our recruiting policy going forward. The plan is to sign young players before they become too expensive.

Regarding the future of Marco Silva, I think it depends on how he has impressed Brands and the other powers that be this season. It isn't results alone that count, coaching, tactics and development of young players are also important.

Putting that much weight on brands to pull the impossible and then being upset when he does what he can with the situation the team is giving him is exactly par for the course for Everton
