Summer Transfer Window 2017

I wouldn't say Dolberg is your typical target man though - although I agree on the principle that Klaassen's best facet is getting it wide and then getting into the box as a third-man runner.

We're looking at wide forwards, clearly. Sandro seems to be the target for the left, and we're keeping Kev. It's a shame about Del but it is what it is.

Agree with that assessment mate

Not exactly something to aspire to Southampton is it not sure klassen is going to take us to the next level. We will see by who competes for his signature.

I'm guessing West Ham, Southampton, West Brom. Barkley on the the other hand is being linked to spurs arsenal & city. Hmmmm

Klaassen is excellent. Don't know what you're trying to get at here?

I'm not saying we aspire to be like Saints.

But, Koeman got them two successive top six finishes (setting their record points total each time) by playing on the whole a 4-3-3 system with a sitting midfielder and then two more box-to-box players.

The pace, creativity and goal threat came from the three forwards - none of which were particularly stuck to one position and were free to move around as they wished, with support coming from the box-to-box midfielders and the full-backs.

He's used this system at pretty much every club, although of course he mixes it up as well, and will be looking to bring in players who fit it.

Is Klaassen our Eriksen then?

Haven't seen much of him myself.

Strootman would be my choice of Dutch players anyway.

The exact quote, was , I believe

"I will stay next season in Ajax, that is, if I can stay."

Unless I'm mistaken ;)

So not giving up the friendly ghost yet mate.

Realistically it's almost certain the best thing for his career to stay 1-2 more years there assuming they keep there best players also, if he stays and Ajax sell others though it could ultimately harm his development if the team weakens too much.

Klaassen isn't a playmaker in the Eriksen mould. He's much more of a player who pops up in-and-around the area but has the vision needed for that final pass/finish. I'd be delighted if we got him as I think a player like that is what our current midfield is missing.

Strootman's good, but we've kind of got the same type of player in Schneiderlin.

yeh safe to say he's not gonna force a move.

Personally, I think it'll be next summer he goes. Ajax will hold out for a huge fee knowing realistically his price can only go up.

The lad has the talent.

I have no problem with Valencia staying and coming off bench. He's proven he can shake things up almost everytime he's intruduced in later stages.

As for 12m fee, like somebody else mentioned; it depends on how much we spend elsewhere.

Totally agree, his statement has basically said to Ajax, that he will do what they want.

With the amount of money around now it will be interesting if anyone does test their resolve. Have to be a fee that eclipses the added price of what it's rise by having another even superior season at Ajax though to make them blink.

If Koeman does want to sign Valencia then he must see a role for him in the team/squad.
Valencia has been at the club since last August and the manager has seen him training every day as well as in games.

We need to build a squad and both Valencia and Mirallas could contribute a lot without expecting to start every game. Next season there will be lots of games to be played and having as much continuity in the squad as possible is desirable.

The fee is the issue...12-14 m is too much. I think it may be in the region of 5-8m.

If we ended up spending roughly what we get back for Niasse on Valencia I won't be too unhappy. It isn't like he will be the only forward player we sign this summer and with europe to cope with he will be a useful squad player and won't need to bed in which will help.

@BlueToff

On current ability, what he's done etc, his realistic price should be around the 25m Mark, another season of development would see that be more like 35m or so, to get him early would take north of 40m I reckon.

Doubt many clubs would gamble to get him early at that fee.

Saying that the Dutch record is I think Depay at 29m, whose stock was higher than Dolberg - so any fee north if that could seriously test them...

If Ronk thinks he needs a squad player like Valencia then why not just keep Niasse and save 10mill. Both around the same level.

they're not though.

Koeman doesn't rate Niasse - at all. Valencia, he at least rates as an impact sub, if not a starter.
