Summer Transfer Window 2017

Agree to disagree mate, IMO anyway he should not even be getting considered to come in, we won't have a limitless pot of money this summer - we have very urgent first team needs and a need for 'quality' competition in some positions, we start pissing 5m here and there up the wall we will be left short in a few areas at least

See my response to Mikeh below mate - hope I've explained myself a bit better.

And yeh, I agree - the club should only bring Valencia back if there's a good deal to be had. If not we wish him well and on his way.

Meh too many central players for me Pabs.

Tielemans - I'm gonna be honest - I'm not arsed about. He'd be wasted wide and I think Klaassen would definitely suit our style of play more.

Don't get me wrong like, I'd take Tielemans in a hearbeat, but if Ross did go then I'd be after a creative player capable of playing as part of that front three (Koeman said yesterday he wants a player to offer more threat from midfield, which leads me to believe Klaassen really is a priority target).

Problem with Klassen for me mat, I do like him the few games i have seen him in, but the things that stood out most for me about his game is his ability to spread the ball wide to speedy - very wide playing wingers in the channels, and his ability to get in and around a box - and link up with a 'target man' style striker who can hold the ball up and play him in etc.

neither of those we actually have...

Is there not a danger of essentially cutting the team off from itself? Schneiderlin Gueye and Davies are used to sitting deep, as well as the back ups to them. I would think we need to have a player who is going to sit in front of them and link the striker and the midfield up but one that can also drop back when needed. Davies is far too young to be carrying that role himself but we do need to think less of sticking a creative player out wide i think and perhaps sticking one in the middle of the park and asking them to create chances.

Klassen might be that player and if so then great, i look forward to him signing. I just don't want to see us shoehorning players into the team and not building a team and links up with itself, or as i put it the other day, i want the team to be a unit.

I also think we need more than 1 central option mate. That is obvioud even now with only Ross, if we just replace 1 for 1, for me we are in the same position.

I wouldn't say Dolberg is your typical target man though - although I agree on the principle that Klaassen's best facet is getting it wide and then getting into the box as a third-man runner.

We're looking at wide forwards, clearly. Sandro seems to be the target for the left, and we're keeping Kev. It's a shame about Del but it is what it is.

I like Valencia, the fee is a bit salty but if it's part of a big spending summer don't think anyone would be arsed, if we have a low spend summer and he's one of our costliest signings then there's a right to fume

..I'd be hoping we can do better. I can only think if RK wants him it's because of the number of games we've got to play. I did see an article a few days ago suggesting he could be on his way back to the club West Ham bought him off.

But Ross's best form has come from a wide position, drifting inside.

Personally I think we need a player in midfield who can get up and support better than we currently do. IMO that player is Klaassen (or another like him).

I do like Tielemans, but think we'd be overloaded with central players in that instance, leaving us very narrow.

Klaassen is definitely more that type of player in that he's full of energy and gets up and down, but also has the quality to find that final pass/shot in the final third. Not your natural 'no.10', but that's where having a playmaker wide (Barkley and/or another) and then a player to provide width and pace on the other would be key, with a focal point up top.

I agree with you mate

We are missing goals from midfield and I totally get why Koeman sees Klaassen as a solution, but I also think we're missing creativity and I don't think Klaassen provides that in a true sense. He joins the attack from midfield, but he doesn't seem the type to have a bit of magic or real vision in his locker to open a defence. Tielemans does. Really drives his team forward and is their playmaker. It looks like that ship has sailed, and maybe Koeman wants the real creativity to come from his front 3 rather than the midfield three, but as good as Davies, Gueye and Schneiderlin have been, they lack goals and creativity between them and I think that needs to be addressed.

Klaassen would definitely add a different dimension to that midfield trio mate.

And you touched upon it, but this is why i think Koeman won't be hugely concerned if Ross does go.

He clearly - as most of us do - would rather him stay, but I don't think Koeman sees Ross as a midfielder anymore.

If you look at Saints under Koeman, all of their creativity came from their forward trio. Tadic, Mane etc, with one of Davis or Ward-Prowse offering that third-man runner from midfield.

Not exactly something to aspire to Southampton is it not sure klassen is going to take us to the next level. We will see by who competes for his signature.

I'm guessing West Ham, Southampton, West Brom. Barkley on the the other hand is being linked to spurs arsenal & city. Hmmmm
