Summer Transfer Window 2017

We can't just go out and buy loads of those top 6 players. As we keep finding they want to go to these teams already.

I honestly don't mind him. He's been better than any of us expected. But people seem to forget the few good things he's done, like turning the Saints home game around when he came on, and focus on the few bad things, which I am happy to admit there have been some. Like every other player.

Naismith and Kone both did similar things in games mate, both deemed not good enough, one sold the other one leaving this summer

It would be exceptionally hard to find any striker who has played a part in 19 games who would have had absolutely zero influence in any game.

Much as i'd like to say we should go out and buy loads of top 6 quality players - reality is that we can't sort the first team and squad out that quickly (sadly)

But lowering expectations from a top 6 quality player to a player who is not good enough to play for West Ham is a big step down.

BTW if we do sign Valencia, then almost certainly we will go and sign Martina as cover - the exact same rule applies to him as it does Valencia

That last sentence makes no sense at all but OK.

As I say, and you prove there, people forget the good things he's done and focus on the bad.

But hey, we all have different opinions.

He's helped get us some key points this season though.

Wouldn't be against keeping him, though wouldn't want it to be for a big fee.

Would you keep Jagielka mate?

What points has Valencia actually earned us this year btw? His most influential game was against Spurs - a result we still lost, Hull and Saints games? - for me anyway it was more the change in shape rather than the quality of the player which altered the game

Thought Klassen was everything Koeman would want in a player tonight. Intelligent , moves the ball quickly and doesnt stop grafting. Very clever player , Lukaku should think twice about moving if this lad was tee'ing him up every game .Any forward would love to have a player of his ilk around.
The similarities to Naismith are his looks & workrate but this lad has an awful lot more to offer. Sign him up Mosh !
Pick- yes
Keane- Utd front runners but lots after him so who knows
Sig- who knows
Sandro- interested in everton but Atletico are too so if griezmann leaves he might be their replacement although that is a huge gamble for them.
Dolberg- never gonna happen unless we throw 40m and pray.
I think Laczette will be Athleticos main target if their transfer ban is lifted and the sell Griezman
They probably see Sandro as a bargain with a good resale value

Martina is not good enough for a Saints side around the same level as West Ham (who Valencia isn't good enough for), Koeman has worked with him twice before so obviously trusts the player, so if he is bringing in the like of Valencia to provide depth to the squad, then it makes perfect sense he would go for Martina for a similar role mate, as quality is not regarded as a necessity for our depth but the right attitude maybe

Where you happy to see Naismith be sold mate - honestly can't remember your take on it

IF so, then did Naismith have more games that he had an influence on than Valencia?

Dolberg is a good finisher.

Not sure his all round game is all that though. Second half especially last night his movement was chronic and his screening non-existent.

Don't worry about it.

All top 6 sides have players that will not automatically start but they have them in and around the squad for the 'lesser' games etc. You are not going to keep 17-18 top 6 quality players happy giving them the game time Valencia has had this year. If and it is a big if Lukaku stays, how many top quality strikers are going to be knocking on the door to sign for us knowing they are likely to play Europa League and league cup games only. Valencia has been decent in a few, dodgy in a few but he is in my opinion a good lad to have as he doesn't kick up a fuss and gets on with the job.

Yeh I'd keep Jagielka with the caveat that I'd like two new CBs to come in.

I think one of Funes or Jags will leave. I'd say we'd recoup a decent wedge on Funes, and Jagielka would be good to have as a reliable fourth-choice CB.

We still aren't in a position to be having a massive squad turn-around.

And vs Arsenal Valencia was superb. He got us the goal that mattered against Southampton and to an extent Hull. He's always had an impact when he's come on which is more than can be said for many of our substitutes.

I'm not saying I'll be arsed either way, like. But if we did keep him it wouldn't be the worst piece of business as long as - like @ijjysmith said - it isn't just Valencia.

Has that Martina played a single game for them all season? I can't remember seeing him play ever in my life.
