"I am incredibly lucky - I play for a good club and live in a nice area - but I am ambitious as well," "I won't get to play for Manchester City, or another club among the top five in England.

"But I do think that I can develop myself to the level needed to play for a club like Everton. But there is a long way for me to go. I first need to become the best player at Middlesbrough - that is the next step for me.

he said this back in February which seems to be what the current rumours are using as the basis for linking us to him mate

For what it's worth anyone who says something like that can absolutely do one for me, effectively saying 'i know I'm not good enough for a top team, but I'm good enough for a team like Everton'

Swerve the absolute bell-end

...yep, I'm aware that he was selling himself to us a few months ago.

Irrelevant to me, a player 5 months after joining a club started talking about wanting to join another club mate, for that alone he's a bad bell.

He's also not very good either

as for the teams above us challenging for the title, not really the last two seasons only spurs has done that and Chelsea, the rest are as far off as we are in reality.

Well whatever, not exactly any different to how Rom conducts himself. Think some of our fans are just to proud when it comes to the "are we a big club?" debate. Boro to us to City is a step up every time regardless of league position. City are just underperforming but we're not even close to them yet.

He was also really good at Atalanta not sure what's gone on.

His exact statement was he knows he can't join a City or top 5 type team mate, that to me shows a player who knows his limitations - so yeah we need more of that type, players who are happy and see being at a 7th place team as the maximum of their abilities.

Unless we are a stepping stone, be boss if he joined and in january he came out with he wants to go to play for Spurs - reckon the fans would be on his side massively in that case :)

He was decent at Atalanta but not good enough that no one besides boro came in for him mate, typically the better players would have had more interest from other Italian teams (see Kessie now for example at the same team)

Possibly so, I rate him anyway. Guess I care more about how a player performs than how they view our club these days sadly.

We're minted now we could buy them and let them rot in our reserves and say "suppose you're not good enough for a team like Everton then" ha

I don't think he does, that's why he bought Bolasie and wanted the likes of Perez and Ghezzal, wide players to give us width but also to offer a goal threat. Out of our FB's these days only Coleman gets forward, Baines rarely does but he doesn't have the legs for it now so if we're gonna go into next season with Baines at LB and so,done else at RB till Coleman gets back, then we need some width and I'm sure we will sign atleast one wide player this summer.

Aye, look at his S'ton team. Had plenty of width but they all came from the two 'wide forwards'. Pacey players (Long, Mane) with lots of movement and who are ideal for pressing.

the tone and nature of everton fans. Please don't under any circumstance consider that things MIGHT go well for us. Every rumour is surrounded by pessimism, every signing is greeted with derision and we got him because no-one else wanted them. That's Everton fans that.

Does any one fancy a month of positivity, no misery, no moaning, just encouragement. I know we have loads of bad experiences, but we do have some good ones too. Even our prospective new stadium is greeted with an abundance of doubt.

The fans need to live up to Nil Satis Nisi Optimum too. Starting Friday, can we turn Goodison into a stadium of support rather than the usual morgue?

No. Absolutely no.

No.

Dail Star speculating today that Leicester will struggle to keep Riyad Mahrez, and linking him with a move to PSG for around £35m.

Presumably we wouldn't be able to get him if PSG really do want him, but I'd like to see us put an early bid in. He'd be a great way to solve our ongoing problem on the right wing IMHO.

It's years of being beaten down mate, added to the fact we were run rather shabbily for years from hand to mouth. Not the fans fault, but a sweep of optimism wouldn't do us any harm as you rightly point out.
