If he hadn't scored in the last 2 years it wouldn't bother me. That Sunderland side is horrific.
 

Realistically will need to bring 3 strikers in if Rom leaves. Niasse, Kone and Valencia will hopefully be gone, and Calvert Lewin should be spending the season on loan in the lower leagues.

Defoe as one of the three is perfectly decent shout.

June is for unrealistic speculation, July, be prepared for being strung along by greasy agents, insulted by crooked continental club presidents and ultimately making a monumental balls of if. August = panic.

I see nothing wrong with Defoe TBH, as long as he is not your main striker, he would be a great pickup, scoring as much as he has for Sunderland this season is a big feat IMO, i would take him at Chelsea even.

Couple of pens I think, far too old, finshed in football now, be a total waste of wages, rather have Valenica at 12m then waste wages on Defoe, Rooney is 3 years younger and people are 50/50 on him, we want to press on and try for top 4, you dont do thatwith a 34 year old from one of the worse Premier League sides in history.
To think we laughed at Liverpool for going for Lambert

Well, you need to take into consideration the fact that he plays for genuinely one of the worst sides i've seen on the PL. They scored 25 goals ALL season, and Defoe had a hand in 16 of those, considering the kind of support he has over there, i dont think its unrealistic to expect that he could put in good numbers at Goodinson, but like i said, its only a good deal if he is signed as back up IMO, too old to be a starter for any team realistically expecting to challenge for top 4, which im not sure you guys will be next season if all the teams strenghthen as expected and you lose players like Lukaku.
 

Defoe - old, played way too much football this season. Wll most likley be utter cack next season,his body will give up.

Valencia - just no. Not even close to standard.

Just going down to 10 men and bringing no one on would possibly be better than bringing Kone on. I wish that was sacarsm but he did absolutely nothing yesterday. He just got in the way.

Wanting to break into the top 4, then talking about Valencia and Defoe. FFS. We need "I'd go to Goodison just to watch this player" signings. That doesn't necessarily mean just attacking players, as we, as a collective really enjoy watching our boss CBs and CDMs- although creativity is a must next season. Is Fosberg a suitable creative forward? I haven't seen enough bar BTsport highlights. Belloti should be who we try to blow everyone out the water for if Rom goes, although that's a very miniscule chance we could get him.
