He was superb before his injury. It's no surprise our form dropped off after his injury - as did Barkley's form.

..it's a fair comment but it doesn't mean the league hasn't got a good player or two. Remember VvD was playing in Scotland. The other point I would make is that Ajax have reached this final, you usually need a decent player or two to do that.
