We should be trying to nick the best players from all the teams below us in order to consolidate 7th before we worry about signing top players to get into the top 4, we're miles off at the moment and they won't want to join us yet. Chelsea and City both had this over a period of 2-3 years where they signed very good but not world class players, I don't see why anyone expects it'll be any different for us when it's arguably harder now.
Nah, that's what we've done already, we've been "best of the rest" for the last decade, just martinez' two bad seasons, but chelsea were there last year, the RS have been there a lot lately, whenever these teams don't have europe to worry about they seem to flourish a lot more, we're definitely not miles off, RS lost to place, united drew with swansea and man city drew with boro in their respective last games and this is something they keep doing. We're closer than where we were under
moyes, although there is just more teams competing now, but we have the money to buy players like siggurdson as well as others from europe that will do more than just consolidate 7th, which should always be our minimum aim for a season. We can't get world class obviously, but we can attract some CL standard players imo.
