I like Ramsay and is the right sort of profile of player to look at (IE lads who have fallen our of favour in the player banking of the top teams). That being said, the one area of the pitch we are well stocked is his position. I can't see him coming straight into our team currently.

His best position is attacking mid mate, we aren't well stocked there at all

As for the likes of Maguire, Gibson and Keane, i think they are much of a muchness, only one of them has much bigger reputation as he came up through the Man United academy, it has definitely inflated his status and hype.

Gibson is my preference. I think Keane is bigger as well, more athletic/imposing and tends to score a few goals which aids this distortion. I'd snap your hand off to have him but think I'd prefer Gibson.

Keane or Gibson are very very similar IMO, long as we brought in a better (and more experienced) centre back alongside them i'd be happy as a pig in mud

We have Ross and possibly Tom Davies. More importantly though I don't think Koeman will play with one in that way. Tadic played wide for Southampton as Barkley is doing currently. Can you see Koeman shifting the shape for Ramsay?

We need players to play now in the first team. Signing 4 prospects would be madness as they wouldn't be getting the game time they need.

1, possibly 2 maybe.

Chalobah = 17 wouldn't be a starter for us...can go on loan/u23s. Massive prospect

Baker = We have Davies, Schneiderlin, Gueye in centre midfield. Then past it barry + 2 injury prone players. He'd be rotation

Solanke + Abraham = Both England u21 international forwards...they would be rotated with Europa...

The more I think about it, the better is sounds....we lack 4 squad players as it is.

Apparently we've been scouting someone at Celtic, according to my impeccable source. (Celtic supporting co-worker who claims he's sourced when it comes to their stuff). Not Dembele, or that left back. A centre half, Joseph Simovic.

Buy ready-made quality first then go for prospects. If we end up the summer with only prospects we are absolutely screwed no matter how good they might become. We can't wait 5 years for a team of potential to mature.

Why not buy them all at the same time lol

Doesn't matter if squad players or 1st choices come first as long as theyre all signed in the end BUT would be better for us to sign the stars first yeah...all I'm saying is, if we are able to, make moves on some Chelsea kids who are top notch but cant get games

I also wouldn't 100% rule out us selling someone no one thinks we would do, such as Gueye either mate, especially if we get a substantial offer for a player we got very cheap, and if we knew we could get another player in who fits what the manager wants etc better.

Not saying it's likely - but wouldn't be shocked if something like that happened

We will 100% start to try to develop and sell on younger players to a degree, the hope is we sdo so on our terms, sell the ones we don't deem good enough to the level we want to be at but whom others regard as good signings for them etc. (Ibe was a good example from the rs of that)

Names like Sigurddson and Ramsay are ones at the level we could realistically attract right now, the level above them is what proved the stumbling block last summer

I can see this, with this exact player as well. I can imagine McCarthy will go in the summer and you have Walsh who will be close to the first team squad next season. Also with Besic coming back (a lot might depend on his recovery) and Koeman's desire to add another in there if a big offer came in for Gueye (say 40 million) from Arsenal and United I think we would cut and run. His role has changed somewhat since Schniderlin came into the team and while some games he's excelled others he's been not quite to the same level.

It's a more general point though, I expect to see us trading our players more going forward.

He'd have to sell Lovren at a loss to create room for VVD. FSG won't want to do that. They've also got Gomez who won't want to be blocked and Sakho still on the books as well as Klavan. From FSG's point of view they've shelled out millions on players under Rodgers and Dalglish and they've not produced. They're probably tired of managers coming to them saying they haven't got a squad when they've turfed out half the players. I'll be gobsmacked if Liverpool drop 40 mill on a CB. I'll be gobsmacked if we do it. I can see him at City or Chelsea where he would walk into the team.

FSG have really backed themselves into a corner with their 200 million spend stuff leaked to the Echo.

Because we're notoriously glacial with our pursuit of players so don't want to find we've ran out of time going after unproven kids. Besides, new management team in at Chelsea, feel Conte will keep the likes of Baker and Tammy in the first-team squad.

I disagree, obviously injuries are a worry with Ramsey. But I'm not sure RK is convinced about the midfield 3 he's played recently moving forward. Taking gana off twice at half time. Unfair to criticise davies at 18, who will be a great player. But he can be sloppy in possession. And for all Gana's ability to get about the pitch, win the ball, break up play. He offers nothing in the final 3rd.

Ramsey can offer a lot more of threat going forward. RK was raving about him at the Euros and had him in his team of the tournament.

Depends mate, i think Koeman is ultimately a pragmatist and not really wedded to any one shape as his 'prefect' formation to play, for example about a third of Mane's games last season for saints he played him as a second striker rather than wide, IF we have a manager who won't go for a attacking midfielder no matter the quality though because he can't play wider then it's not exactly a ringing endorsement of Koemans flexibility,
