To everyone arguing with @Timak about the availability of better playmakers for £50m, and asking him to prove it by listing players who are a) better, b) under £50m and c) would come here, you're making a really weird argument. There aren't any professional scouts on here (presumably) so asking for a list of names is daft.

The fact is that there's loads and loads of teams round Europe with better playmakers that Gylfi, that's undeniable. They were nearly all bought for less than £50m (even accounting for the inflation), and went to or came from 'lesser' teams. Other clubs managed to identify these players. It is not unreasonable to want Everton to do the same with the resources at their disposal - particularly when we can blow almost any European club out of the water financially.

They'd want something mental for Benteke.
Specially after what we will fork over for Gylfi. Too bad, cause Benteke would likely slot right in.

I'm afraid we have too many (as in all) eggs in the Giroud basket. If it comes off, happy times. If not, we may be forced into something dumb late in the window...... A movie we have seen before.

Name them then lad.

I don't say too much negative but going into the season with DCL, Roonface and Sandro as the striker options doesn't inspire much confidence in me.

Add one more in the week please Moyes.

I may be wrong but I don't think Sandro will be used as primary striker. More so an attacking minded winger who creates chances and opens up space, or a second-assisting-the-big-man type.

But yea, we need a big man in. Soon. Feels awkward seeing Rooney and Sandro who are like 5"7 or so now when we were seeing 6"3, 210lbs, massive tank Romelu.

I deny that.

Ergo, it is NOT undeniable, and your entire argument crumbles to toast.

I don't think Koeman is viewing Sigurdsson as a pure playmaker.

Sigurdsson would add height and most importantly he is lethal at set pieces. Something that we have lacked since Baines heyday. God knows why Roberto put no value on them as we have been useless at them for a few seasons now. They can be the difference in tight games.

Pickford keeps them out.
Gylfi puts them in.

Not the issue

Ultimately we need the equivalent of Lukaku and an improvement on Barkley to progress this season
Agreed Pulis said after the West Brom game at goodison something along the lines of the only difference between them & us is lukaku & Barkley.

We have signed some good players but need a couple who can be the difference

If we could get a Lukaku equivalent there would be plenty of bigger teams ahead of us in the chase, if we can get Siggy we have a big improvement on Barkley and taken away some of the damage of losing Lukaku, but we still need another striker

Siggurdson is one of them

Window isn't closed for another few weeks and we have publicly stated we are after another striker. What if that man did replace lukaku? Added in a team player version of Barkley and we have a better team than last year.
