Any more than 3-4 players and it won't go well on the pitch. Players need time to integrate both on and off the pitch and 6 or 7 players all at once can have a negative impact. Those of us old enough will remember Howard's magnificent 7.

Any price would have to be dirt cheap though and Chelsea will never do that, he just doesn't score any goals and there is nothing within his profile that suggests he will, so far he has been a 1 in 6 player, that's just not PL level. It's also before you start even talking about the injury history. We need to stop with these types otherwise we will never move forward. If this is the best the scouting team can come up with then maybe we need to look at them and what they are doing.

Purpose of a loan with option is to evaluate if a player is worth the investment, injured when he arrived, played about 3 games then injured himself kicking the ground, came back and got injured again. Sorry but think anybody with sense can evaluate this loan.

January I think we were paralysed a bit not sure what to do being honest mate.

Caught between bringing targets in from this year's mist and I ever can possibly get in the summer

So we can get Nuamah now but if we wait five months we can go for 'this' player if a much higher calibre etc.
Same with Fellows or Niel etc, act in Jan but doing so means come summer we've already recruited whereas if we'd waited we can get an 'evolved' level of player.

Can see that being very much the case actually...

Or Thelwell lost his mobile and took him 29 days to find it.
Ran out of mobile data I reckon and it didn't get renewed until midnight on the 4th and he had enough time to ask for a deal sheet then used up his free calls back to Argentina to box it off.

Yes exact reason 2/3 should have come in the January window to gel into the squad. 3/4 won’t be enough in the summer it’s closer to 7/8 maybe even 9 we need.

While that looks embarrassing in terms of how long it took, seems to be lots of positive comments about the actual deal.

Almost feels like we actually played hardball and said this is the offer, they wanted more and we just said no and held our nerve whereas they bottled it to make sure they got the deal.

I've heard a lot of positive comments about the deal from Kev that's for sure!

tbf I think he could turn out to be a decent loan signing IF Moyes thinks he's better than what we currently have

We have brought 8 players into the squad this season so that's not quite true. We have numerous players OOC and they will need replacing, simply extending their deals is not the answer as many have repeatedly shown they are not up to this level. Then there are players that need buying anyway like a RW who we have been desperate for and a proper RB.

People at the club messed the paperwork up initially according to bobbles mate.

There are countless examples of teams signing numerous players in one window and being absolutely fine. It's one of those weird things that everyone seems to repeat as if it's an undeniable fact when it's anything but.

Think people are misconstruing the line evolution not revolution

Seen it getting interpreted as a limited recruitment, slow process.

I understood it as meaning the recruitment won't change in terms of the model of player we target as in we aren't gonna be suddenly ripping up the Model of recruitment targets - age/type of player and be going towards the mode of recruitment of trying to buy the finished ready made players.

Talk about having much more scope financially I took as meaning but now we can aim for a higher calibre in the profile fitting certs criteria (age, potential, etc), in other words due to finding out targets can evolve - be of higher calibre and cost etc
The club is now in a position to be able to invest in young talent who we can foster for a couple of seasons before selling on at a profit. That represents footballing evolution from where we have been since Moshiri took over.

Find Championship & overseas talent. Buy for £10m-£15m, sell for profit, reinvest. Rinse and repeat all whilst organically improving as a club and increasing our commercial revenue at BMD to allow for larger and larger outlay on players.

Just need to find the right players...

Add walker petters aswell at rb could come straight into the team,
Just don't get the love for him at all. He's not awful like but if after about 5 years of desperately needing an upgrade at right back the best we can do is a free transfer in his late 20s who's been relegated in his last 2 seasons in the league then this brave new era is going to be pretty underwhelming.

Think we need two imo patterson most likely be off, dont think he is anything special but could do a job here. Then could still bring in another rb to develop thru the season

It’s much easier for 2/3 players to come into a team with a fixed system and style of play. Rather than trying to get 5/6 in. But agree it can be done.

Yeah he could do a job, i'd be fine with him coming in as a replacement for Young - someone who gives you cover on both sides. But as a first choice starter he really shouldn't be top of the list. Full back is right at the top of the areas we need to strengthen, I really hope we don't settle for 'he can do a job'.
