This is why I posted this here. I actually posted on a basketball forum after my Jayhawks had a meltdown and blew a huge lead to get eliminated from the title hunt. It's been a long time since I've been that crushed. And I posted the next day that I'm not sure why I even care about sports anymore, because all it brings is disappointment mostly. And then I thought...that's a crap way to look at it. So I guess I'm wondering if lowered expectations make for more chances to enjoy the sport? IDK. It's a question I've been pondering.
Dont think lower expectations mean enjoying the sport more, it is just that people have differing expectations of their own team. Witness GOT! Some want Moyes gone because of A, B & C, some think he is ace, based on X,Y, & Z. Neither right or wrong, but they will still be at the match/stream/pub WANTING the same thing.
After 40+ years as a blue, I have never felt as crushed after the Wigan match. For others, it may have been the SF against the RS, for another, the FAC against WBA in 69.
And the most glorious thing is that it all ridiculously unimportant in the grand scheme of things. Suppose thats why it is called "Sport". Love it though.
