Every fan and pundit up and down the league could see it, most evertonians could see it.

Big diagonal to felli, felli brings it down, pinear and baines interplay, ball gets whipped in.

Or the occasional moment of brilliance from a flair player like miralles

As I said mate, feel free to revise all you want.

I'm not one of these blerts who are embarrassed by long balls, if it works then I don't see it as a problem. But I remember Moyes tenure, and he was able to mix it up with different styles of play. Manchester United would not have selected a manager that was limited to long ball football to be the successor to Alex Ferguson.

Except they did, and he lasted long didnt he

We don't do anything with our style. The midfield is non existent, players seem to roam out of position to try new things but doesn't work. The team doesn't play well together. There's individual brilliance but no relationships in the team, a player could play a great ball but the player on the receiving end wouldn't be expecting it. We are the comedy club taa daa!

Most of Everton's best attacking play comes from Coleman & Baines when Everton play high tempo football the 2 of them bomb down the wings this slow sideways build up play from the back allows the opposition to press high up the pitch and stifle the back four it is like treading water
simple stuff the manager needs to find a answer to it i know most of us thought Moyes was negative but i can't remember both of these players being so subdued and anonymous in games the malaise is creeping right through the team

This squad of players is better than this other than against Arsenal earlier in the season we have been really poor so no matter what spin the manager puts on results something is obviously wrong and he needs to sort it before the season goes totally t!ts up

I like passing football , but we don't have any purpose .. And we don't press the opposition without the ball... There is absolutely nothing to get fans into the game and create an atmosphere...

This is what I want to see us doing more of, much more of. We need to be doing more off the ball as well as injecting more pace and urgency when we have it.

Blaming our woes on 'passing football' is ridiculous. We're just bang out of form and need to tweak a few things.

There's more to it than that though. We've been looking far more likely to concede than to score.
True, as much as we've not been that scintillating going forward, we've still scored quite a lot of goals this season, problem is we've conceded an awful lot too, most of them individual cock ups

We've got to the stage now where even posters like me are Piped Up.

Negatives - You name it. Disjointed play. Poor decisions, Really poor positioning and possession based play breaking down in all the crucial places. Set Pieces so heartbreaking Warren Zevon's Ghost is up and writing Power Ballads about them. Terrible decisions from Officials. Dogged and inspired opposition. Dead Set Wood Packing Worldies between their sticks at times and even the bounce of the ball gummyslapping us on the forehead.

Positives - Not many. Naismith probably should have done alot better with the header from a rare decent Baines corner, and he was desperately unlucky at the end with that chance. In that moment we really cut them open, they were out on their feet though, and another where Barkley had got the ball to Naismith on the edge of the box, just right of centre, and there was a big gap all the way along the edge of the box.. and if Barkley had just continued to the edge of the area... it sums it up for me. Barkley either wants to be a Centre Mid or he's being told to play there, but either way he's become the missing link when he's not played naturally.

For the record with a full deck and in this funk I'd probably try

T.H
S.C - J.S - G.B - B.O
K.M - R.B - J.M - L.B
R.L - S.E

Lukaku and Eto higher up- Lukaku should drift in and out from the right - splitting and then facing the defence - gotta suck in defenders and get the ball away better.
Stones in the middle with Barry and McCarthy alternating sort of on their highest man. Jags obv if this is plop. We need the right balance of opposition pressure to get in behind them nowadays. We need to be smarter drawing them out. Nzonzi looked he was playing underwater by the end. Instead of a False 9 - have a False 5 (CB). Dunno just thought of it and it sounds cool.
I'd give Barkley free reign. Just do what ever mate - get the ball off Mc and Baz - look for Baines and Kev - then late runs into the Box.
Subs - Whoever aint fittin.

Result - Champions League okay.

We do not possess any man off the ball movement. Players on the ball, looking for a pass, are gesticulating "someone move FFS!"...but no-one does. There is zero fluidity. I am at a loss to diagnose the malady afflicting this team compared to last years model. Then again, I am not being paid 3 million quid a year to do so. Nor am I being paid a similar amount to execute (or attempt to), the strategy/tactics/style of play on the pitch.

All I can say with certainty, is that at 5 am (half time) this morning (in NZ), I turned the TV off and went back to bed. Now that, was a clever strategy.

Who is R.B. ?

I don't want much of a change, just a small one first to see what knock on effect that provides.

Dear Santa, I know it's a bit early to be askin for gifts but please can you get the Everton players to stop titting about with the ball in defence please. It's once or twice a game every game that they are caught with it and the opposition breaks on us, or if they do squeeze it forward to the midfield its a pressure ball that gets caught and the same happens, the opposition breaks and we're in deep doo doo.

All I'm askin for is a bit of pragmatism. The hard core belief in titting about with the ball even when we are chasing the game is simply not good enough, it isn't school of science, it's awful. That the titting about with the ball in defence is the 'go to option' at any given moment is just clueless.
A big indication of how angry the supporters are at this mess (titting about with the ball in defence) was against QPR where a FK in their half somehow was worked back to Howard. I thought for a second I'd been drugged, then I heard the boo's. Pathetic doesn't adequately sum up how wasteful and cowardly some of these decisions are.

Less 'titting about with the ball in defence' please.
