Stubhub Ticket Touting?????????????

]so in theory, they are touts as well?

Yep. The only difference is that the money StubHub makes has tax applied to it. If there was a way for the government to get money back from the 'evil' ticket touts on the streets then i doubt they would give a sh*t.

They don't actually care about the consumers, they just want to make sure they take a cut of the profits.

spot on.

if they charged a set fee for website services, that w0uld be ok.

but to charge a -percentage of the ticket price gives them a incentive to allow a raised price, aka touting

right lads. Loads of you are wound up about this but I really do not see the problem. Those seats would be empty anyway for the game as they are season ticket holders who cant make it, not people who buy individual tickets from everton and then re sell. For practically every other game that's been so far the price has been lower than through everton for tickets, yet one game is inflated and everyone has a moan. Think about it, you don't moan when prices are 15 quid for southampon at home instaed of 30 from everton, yet when someone puts them higher for the derby you all whine. It's the ticket holder's decision how much he ofers it for, and ultimately if no one wants to pay the money he will lose out as well.

Or they are season ticket holders who've thought 'hey, why the [Poor language removed] am i going to this football match when i can make a quick couple of hundred quid selling it on Stub Hub', and that's where your argument falls flat.

Or you could buy an Evertonia membership for £20, get yourself a good seat for a total of £60 and then sell your season ticket seat for a couple of hundred quid.

And obviously people aren't going to bloody moan when the prices are lower, because that's how it's supposed to work.

The club are basically saying they're happy for one fan to charge another fan £400 to watch a match. It's legalised ticket touting, no more no less. If somebody did that on the street (season ticket or not) they could get fined for it.

I dont think Season Ticket holders are purposely not going the match or doing that, however, the reasoning that the person who you have quoted doesnt justify a £400 match ticket price, end of.

If it wasn't for the fact that i'd feel like how I would imagine Mcauley Culkin did in Home Alone if I were to miss a home game of any kind let alone a Derby, then I would consider making a quick hundred odd quid.

Me and the missus bought our first season tickets this year, and damned happy we are about it as well (y) But because of circumstances beyond our control we can't make the derby and we are both gutted. I sold my tickets on Stubhub and they took 25% of the price. I must add that I sold both at £10 more than face value, which meant in the end we got £4 less than face value for them. I think that was fair, someone got two good tickets to a sold out game for an extra £10, and I just about covered my costs.

So if somebody sells a ticket for £400, Stubhub take £100 of that straight away.

There you have it, legalised ticket touting. F***ing disgrace.

Can someone explain the issue?
...Here in the states, we use StubHub and a host of other 3rd party services to find tickets often paying more than face value due to demand? $400 seems excessive but i have nothing to compare it to.

Our local college football team is always sold out and the big game vs our rival at the end of the season always goes for 500% more than face value.

I don't get how you can't see the issue there.

Ticket touting, the process of buying tickets to re-sell them for a massively inflated price simply to make money is illegal in this country, and i'm fairly sure it's also illegal in the US.

What is annoying is that this is basically legalised ticket touting, the ONLY difference is that the people making money are allowed to do so, probably because they give some of the money to the tax man.
