Stubhub Ticket Touting?????????????

Stubhub, Seatwave, Getmein, Viagogo...... There's a fair few.

It's disgraceful and it shouldn't really be allowed, as it gives touts a legal avenue to go through, almost encouraging it.

Having said that, I have been tempted to do it myself for something like tickets for a Neyo or Justin Beiber gig, they'd sell for loads and the way I see it if you like that sort of music then you deserve to pay stupid money for them.

I don't get how you can't see the issue there.

Ticket touting, the process of buying tickets to re-sell them for a massively inflated price simply to make money is illegal in this country, and i'm fairly sure it's also illegal in the US.

What is annoying is that this is basically legalised ticket touting, the ONLY difference is that the people making money are allowed to do so, probably because they give some of the money to the tax man.

No Brennan is it NOT illegal in the US. It is perfectly fine for me to seek to sell any ticket for whatever cost I can negotiate.
There are SOME laws against scalpers on the premises of the venue but by an large these widely overlooked and only punished if the tickets they sold were forgeries/counterfit or not valid.

the secondary market is huge in this country which someone else mentioned ticketmaster's "GetMeIn" site and Ebays "StubHub"
site...as well as a host of ticket exchanges. But the underlyer is that these are broker sites who are playing 3rd party to a peer to peer sale.

As a business I can see the lucrative and can support the business. As a consumer...no way do I want to pay XXX$ for my XX$ ticket unless i have to.

According to the internet it varies by state. In NY for example there are markup laws.

I don't see how anybody can support this practice of massively ripping off fans just so they get to see the game.

Brennan, you are totally ignoring my intial point which is that for the other 18 home games in the season the prices on stub hub are usually lower, or have been lower. Is this 'touting' okay then?

While I cannot say i support the inflation, i can recognize the reason and pros/cons of the practice.

I paid triple for my playoff ticket in 2008 and recently our USA mens national team vs Jamaica was sold out so tix were double their price...however, not a single person i spoke too was disappointed, more so excited they were still able to attend in the first place.

Now because i am congenial. a $30 tix being sold at $400 is excessive on principal.

Should have a limit on the amount you can sell the ticket for on there, doubt stub hub would be to keen on that though as it would eat into their profits.
