Just to add my two penneth. I think Stubbsy as a future number 2, reserve team coach, Academy Coach, defensive coach, etc is a great idea. This is a man that took a huge voluntary pay cut to come to Everton from Celtic and I believe most negative things that have been said about him are completely unfounded or misdirected. He was let down by Everton when they would not pay the additional cover when to time was required due to his
past misfortune. I truly felt for him at that time as he never wanted to leave EFC but was not being allowed to fight for a contract extension. The lad had to think of his future and a speculative 12 months was not enough for his future financial security of his family. We saw sense and made all the right moves to get the man back with us. I commend us for that. Job done, next chapter.
As for the coaching attributes, he knows the game extremely well, knows the club inside out(passion also, did I mention his pay cut so he could come to us

) , but more importantly he has been planning this coaching role for a while. He has been regularly coaching kids in the local schools, as has Carsley (reminiscent of Alex young who also did the same type of thing in between matches and training sessions to keep himself busy and on the straight and narrow, also kept him grounded he admitted in an interview), these 2 lads were put through their coaching badges by Moyes(who has done it with players at PNE also, Simon Davey being the best example,. He had a career stopping injury aged 29 ish and Moyes gave him a coaching role to teach him the other side of the game. This was before Simon Davey had even done his badges, sounds very similar to Moyes's story of how he got into managing. Davey is now a quality up and coming manager, now in control of Barnsley. Is it a coincidence that da silva is there?)
All I am trying to say is, Stubbsy will learn the management techniques needed as will Carsley, but Moyes is letting them learn whilst they are unable to compete as it keeps their minds in the right place. I think this can be nothing but good for Everton's future. Even if the lads move on to coach lower league teams, then at least we will get the up and coming stars filtered through us as we will have the connections with the stars of the future through their managers that we bred.
On a personal note. Stubbsy is the new Labby in my eyes. I don't say that lightly either as Labby was a great mate of my Grandfathers. I never want Stubbsy to leave our club. Players like that breed passion within our players.
Like I said, just my thoughts. They are not judgements.
