Gary Speed is all I'm gonna say lads..... We don't know what's going on in a mans life.

Very true. This thread makes sense now, just seen the other one

Looking at his tweets though, it was never going to get much of a great reception

Let's be sensible here, enough of he ridicule please.

Depression is a utter life ****er of an illness. Irrespective of what you do or how much money you earn it affects everyone in the same manner.

A friend of mine was found yesterday having committed suicide. He was due to move overseas today to start a fresh chapter in his utterly fascinating life. He had helped me come to terms with myself through my darkest times and it seems that his own personal battles with the same problem led him to make this decision.

Surely the reasons he's stressed aren't monetary?

If not, I'm sure he'd have got a better response if he'd just put why.

Not everyone reads the sun and spouts the "35 thousand reasons" he'll be alright nonsense.

You're spot on. But I don't think the OP was really about real stress or depression and the misery it causes, just some tit of an overpaid footballer......

He may be a tit and overpaid but he is still alllowed to be stressed - I thought everyone was agreed that after Speed we should be more open about mental illness

People laugh at Mental Health problems because they fear them. There is a real lack of understanding and what amounts basically to ignorance.... this is through no fault of the individual to be fair as historically it has been a Taboo subject. Thankfully these days people tend to be more accepting of others who do suffer mentally......this is through agencies like MIND working tirelessly to educate the masses. They have done a fantastic job of it too on some levels but there is still an awful long way to go. I have nothing but admiration for the hundreds of volunteers belonging to organisations like this.
