Denis put in a brilliant shift when he was with us,

Typical South American player, chases everything, I remember Phil Neville once commenting that he "eats defenders"

I think that's what annoys me so much about Anichebe, if he put in the amount of effort Strac did then the fans would like him a lot more.

He wasn't even that bad technically near the end, showing he could actually run with the ball at his feet as he grew in confidence and adapted to league, I reckon he could play for any of the big clubs in this country as an impact squad player, hungry and strong. I was surprised we never signed him full time. although I have heard Tigre were asking £9m for him which is a bit steep for us to pay for a squad man.

As much as I loved his application, graft and hunger to succeed, to say he could play for any of the big clubs in the country is a bit much. He only got so much game time at Everton because we struggled for striking options for a lot of the season.

Great goal against Chelsea but it was the effort he put in against City that stood out for me .

Anyone know how much San Lorenzo paid for him ?

Imagine the space he would creat for your Van Persie' or Torres' of the world with his work-rate and physical presence, nightmare to defend, would be a great impact player as long as there is technical quality around him to benefit.

He wasn't joking.
