Straqsituation

Re-watch the 4-0 highlights against Sunderland, just before Pienaar's goal Denis pulls this 60 yard surface-to-air hoof down on his boot like a baws.

I love you Straq.

He was utter tripe, let's be honest, but I never once saw him give less than 100%.

His heading the ball on the ground was sensational. A cult hero and no mistake.

Mainly yes, but that game against City he was amazing and put Saha in his place (admittedly that was just by running around and being arsed though).

great read, straq was what every footballer should be, hungry just to play and give 110% every time they get the chance to get on the field. doubt he'll ever come back as he sadly wasn't good enough, have no clue where the scouts plucked him from, but thanks for helping us out tortoise, hoping he'll be a league champion soon

Knowing what we know about him now, can you imagine how he felt watching that joke SAHA for months before he got his chance?

I loved the big fella and I'd love to see him back. In a small way he restored my faith, that to some, playing the game is more important than getting your wages.

I'm in a minority of one I think, but he was a very good hold up man and a brilliant header of the ball. For a side willing to play to his strengths I reckon he'd get 10 goals a season in the PL and make another 10 through nuisance value. He battered Kompany and Lescott from pillar to post and done the same against Chelsea. Not many players are physical enough to do that.

"He wasn't the footballer this club needed, he was the footballer this club deserved"

seriously though the guy epitomised everything about the spirit of the team and the Everton ethos... this is why he was loved so much.

I would have him in the team before Anichebe...

I would love for us as fans to compile an archive of messages to Denis to send to him... or organising some way to show our appreciation.

He lifted the spirits of the club right when we needed it last season. His performances against Fulham, City, and Chelsea were inspiring and you could tell right away he wanted to give 100% for the club. He'll always be welcome here in my eyes.
