Stoppage time or ‘stop the clock’

The VAR officials could add up the time for each delay or stoppage and communicate it to the 4th official to put it up on the board at the end of each half. They're bound to add it up correctly and fairly and it frees up the on field referee to get even more decisions right and for the 4th official to do more networking with certain managers on the sideline instead of having to watch the game.
The VAR officials are there to make sure that foul play missed by the ref gets brought to his attention, they can`t do that so I expect they make a mess of keeping time as well.

I like the way they do it in the NFL. They treat the officials as a team. You'd have a group of officials that are accountable to each other. They also get used to each others ways of working. I think it would increase the overall quality.

The NFL can't count cos they stop the clock before the times even up..
