Stones tells Everton he wants Man City transfer

It wouldn't surprise me that when we rejected Chelsea he was promised a move this year if someone came in for him. We never had much time when the chelsea thing happened, or there is no doubt he would have been sold, martinez's comments at the time confirmed this. As long as we get a good price and not one with add-ons.

If he learns... and its a big IF then he could be a wonderful player and the obvious heir to Rio Ferdinand. But Ferdinand for all his talent could be a liability for West Ham and Leeds before United got the best of him. I suspect Stones will suffer under the weight of expectation and a huge transfer fee for a couple of seasons before he comes good. Whether they stay patient at City or the club after reaps the benefits remains to be seen. If I was advising him I'd tell him to stay here for the time-being learn from one of the greatest defenders of his generation, rediscover his form and confidence and then consider his opinions.

These players are always in such a rush… it often amounts to career self-sabotage.

I don't expect any loyalty from players these days, and they are fully justified in that respect

It used to bother me, but why anyone would expect loyalty from a player like Stones or Lukaku, who have no connection to the club or local area, is beyond me

Supporters are hardly loyal themselves when it comes to players. We'll turn on any player at any moment for any reason

If a player is a Blue who has come through the ranks, then it's a bit different as you expect a bit more affinity and care for the club, but for a man like Stones, who was signed ready made from Barnsley, I don't expect anything from him other than trying to make the process as smooth as he possibly can, which it appears he's done. If he has indeed asked to leave, and put in a transfer request, he forgoes his loyalty bonus, which in turn puts more money in our pockets

Good luck to him. He didn't sulk after not getting his Chelsea move last year and was professional throughout the season. He's given us plenty of notice this window to find a replacement for him and there's good players out there that we can now put the money from his sale towards. I happen to think he's an excellent player and will miss him, but I don't begrudge him his big move. He's gone about it the right way and I'm sure we'll be fairly compensated for losing him
Overall i call it the rooney effect.

Can't blame rooney for leaving, went on to bigger and better things. Hell even arteta , lescott, technically rodwell all went on and won things whilst we rotted away going nowhere.

So yeah, Will stones have a more successful career with better coaches and team mates? Yes he will, absolutely. I personally don't blame him for wanting that as you say.

And my motto now seems to be, until we actually do anything, we are a mid table team and so leaving us now is a step up in regards to city and the like. Same as we were going down when rooney left, had gone nowhere with the others etc.

Lad, this was after he handed in a transfer request. Have some perspective, eh.

I have perspective. He handed in a transfer request. The club rejected it it. WE (the fans) had a chance to show him he was wanted and we acted like a child spitting its dummy out. There's some perspective........lad.

Kind of agree on this, as fans over the last few years we have become terrible at abusing our players, while at the same time offering little in terms of vocal support and encouragement, its pathetic really.

Loyal? Some fans made him cry in a service station. He's been boo'd and abused. As far as he's concerned, WE haven't been loyal. I'm not that fussed tho as defenders can be replaced and Everton will continue on, hopefully doing a double over city when he fails to clear the ball.
We sang a song about him staying.

What else did you want us to do whilst he was messing about in the 6 yard box?

Get him out asap, if he wants out.

Get a replacement and we move on. We are Everton.

Couldn't care if he stays or goes, as long as Koeman replaces him with a capable CB that can head the ball.

If he does go for 53m you really have to applaud the club for - after what really was a horrendous season for Stones - getting 15m more than Chelsea were prepared to pay for him a year ago.

One thing though: The club better have numerous deals lined up and ready to announce, because if we are selling our best up-and-coming talent with no major signings on the horizon, things could turn nasty quite quickly ...

Hoping he is announced a City player end of this week, and on same day we announce two new players with promise of further signings next week.

Question? what you think will happen with transfer fee paid to us? bit into upping wages? rest into kitty?
