It will be interesting to see if he's retained his skill since recovering from injury.

I know he's 33 but if he's still good.....

I don't reckon he'd lose the skill he had. The fitness and lasting ability though.....

Remember when we played Swansea away last season? Quite late on if I recall, Lennon scored for us. Pienaar played, out of the blue really, and was exceptional.

And that was it.

I guess one thing that he does have going for him is that he has never been hugely reliant on pace/athleticism as opposed to his skill on the ball.

I am truly excited about the potential return of Pienaar, but seems like I am in a small minority. Is this because

A - He's been injured so long you've lost hope of him getting back to his best
B - Never rated him that highly
C - Lost the respect for him over the whole Spurs episode
D - I Need to move on, the past is the past.

A and D for me mate.

my only glimmer of hope is that he never relied on pace, mind you nor did osman and he seems finished even without injuries

You're probably right! I'd just love to see the return of Baines & Pienaar tearing down the left. If you could add that to this current set up we'd be awesome

They were some good days when those 2 were really at it. We might need a new Pienaar to see it again though.

The last few times we saw him his legs to have gone completely. Still has a bit of skill and can draw fouls but I doubt he'll ever be more than spare part ever again.
