Steven Pienaar

God we miss him. Huge part of our crapness at the moment is we have basically no creativity, hence constantly either passing back or running into traffic in the box.

......absolutely. His 'type' is integral to the balance and effectiveness of the team. Osman is another who could plug that gap. It's only when players are unavailable do we realise their importance. I'm sure if either of these were playing Barry's performances would also improve.

Yep Eggs, also I don't know who replaced our fitness coach Steve Tasijian at the end of last season but our levels ever since have been awful,we look dead on our feet.

...we do, Dario. Very sluggish against Stoke. I wonder how many are playing with knocks. I have posted my concerns about our medical strategy for a long time following real insight from within the game.

Can't even blame the Europa League Eggs, from the off against Leicester and Arsenal in both games we tired and ended up with two points instead of six, although possibly the lack of a decent pre season may have contributed but ever since then the tempo has remained worryingly sluggish.

Isn't this just stretching it a bit? He made his loan move a permanent one, and then signed from Newcastle. He didn't go back to Rangers in between his loan and his first permanent signing so I don't think you can count them as two can you?

If Pienaar counts as signing four times then surely you can?

Signed a loan deal, then signed a perm deal, went to Newcastle, came back and signed a second perm deal.

Doesn't really matter but i was just trying to offer suggestions to answer groucho's query.

I think a player has to have played elsewhere in between signing for us for it to count properly, I'm a stickler for rules.

Did anyone see that section of Orlando Pirates supporters who were jeering him at GP last season? Was the Norwich game I think their was a group of about 6 or 7 fellas dressed in Orlando pirate shirts shouting abuse from the park end at him, the stewards calmed them down but was mad to see

I agree about Pienaar and his pivot role for Baines although I doubt Barry's performance would ever improve as his current predicament is down to incredible slowness alone and that is never going to be reversed so the choice of personnel around him is altogether rather moot.

We badly miss a player with his or (to a slightly less extent) Osman's qualities. We don't have any other players who have the ability to receive the ball in tight spaces, turn and move it around. It's partly why our attacks are so slow to build up. What we'd do for Pienaar in his prime now. He's still a useful player but he was fantastic a few years ago.
