I just want a midfielder who can score goals. From all reports, McGeady isn't that person
I think barkley will hit start to hit double figures in terms of goals over the next few years however goalscoring midfielders are hard to find these days unless you want to forget footballing ability and go for someone like kevin nolan...

well footballing ability doesn't seem to be winning us many games. Think I prefer a goal scorer first and football ability second

sorry but are you saying that if kevin nolan could guarantee 10+ goals (he's scored 7 this season, 10 last and 13 the one before fwiw) from midfield next season you'd take him?

You are making this harder than it has to be. Are all goal scorers possessing a character like Nolan's?
by character do you mean his issues with alcohol, weight etc?

the question is would you discard technique and creativity for the knack of sticking the ball in the net?

Cannot I want a player of craft and technique who can deliver a powerful accurate shot?. Why are you having such a problem joining these dots?

because you're going to have to pay 20 million plus for a player like that.

Any player of technique who can kick a ball accurately and with power commands 20 million? I thought those were two pretty fundamental attributes to being a professional footballer

right i thought we were talking about a 10 goals per season midfielder, that doesn't necessarily mean a player that has a hard shot. i was thinking more a player that can pop up in the box and score a few tap ins and scruffy goals for example a adam lallana at saints or a prime frank lampard.

McGeady just doesn't look that flash either. Jury is still out but I hope he is not another bad transfer. RM's record in transfers to date (loans aside), have not been 'all that'.
McGeady's barely played and is getting back to fitness mate. I at least want to see if he's any good instead of Pienaar who I already know is useless.

can't be serious surely... mcgeady is absolutely horrific at least pienaar has good movement and gets into good goalscoring positions even if he can't finish to save his life.
You've worked out that he's horrific from about 180 minutes of football or so?

Plus what use is it having a player who can get into good goalscoring positions if they can't finish to save their life?

Think its about time Pienaar done the honourable thing, signed all his boots and shirts and put them up for a charity auction, then donated his kidneys, then he might win me back over.
