Steven Pienaar

At the end of the day all attacking players are judged on their goals and assists, i don't buy that Pienaar has just been really unlucky and he's got loads of 'assisting assists', i just don't think he's very productive.

.....

You don't have to buy it, just go watch our goals from this season. You will find Pienaar is heavily involved in a lot of them.

@yelyah just posted this article in the Naismith thread. This quote I thought was worth sharing here...

Steven Naismith said:
Now I am in a team where the quality of players is the best I have ever seen. Steven Pienaar is the best player I have ever been on a pitch with. Unbelievable. He can do things with the ball I have never seen before.

Would be not prefer to give Oviedo an extended run in the team at left mid when fit? I'd be more willing to do that and put as much funds together to get a top class striker in on a permanent.

nah, he can't even get in the swansea team hence why he's on loan at sland. he is a good player who would suit our system, great passer of the ball tbh, but i believe he's only ever played central. if he can't get in at swansea, should we really be targeting him here?

Good player who would suit our system. Great passer of the ball. I've seen him play much more than a central role and float across the final third creating even against top 4 teams.

All of that is enough for me to think he is a good enough suggestion, although I'd prefer more proven quality.

Anybody saying he is rubbish hasn't watched him much I think. Just because you do poorly at one club doesn't mean you will do the same at another. You all know there's countless examples of that, I don't see the need for the pointless extremes.

@toffeejack not that I'm saying you said he is rubbish, kind of responding to other posts too.

Maybe Pienaar should be played more centrally and let Mirallas, McGeady and Deulofeu share the winger duties.

Thats one thing with Bobby and Pienaar. I can see clearly, and don't understand how others can't, why Pienaar is in the team each week but I don't understand why he doesn't get a go at the central role behind Rom and then have two of Deulo, McGeady and Kev on either side of him.

i think he's really good, should still be at swansea tbh. he took a while to settle in the prem. but he cost them £6m, can't see why they'd accept anything lower/similar to that amount - we could probs do better for that value, especially as we don't have that kind of dosh. would like someone just a tad more attacking.

I also think there is something to Bobby, his style and his coaching. Certain types of players, such as Ki, might thrive under him.

I don't want to go into values and worth because let's face it none of us know how the summer window will go.

Naismith isn't the first player to talk about good Pienaar is with his feet. Would love to see some training clips of he does in practice.

I don't really see Ki as a replacement for Pienaar but I think he would bring something to the team. In an ideal world where Everton had lots of money then my first choice replacement for Pienaar would be Piazon as I mentioned before.
