Difficult to compare him to Barks and Rom, different types of player who offer different qualities. Both these lads have got bags of talent but have yet to reach their potential which we all hope they can.

Naismith is playing very well for us and I would refute the suggestion that his inclusion is a deterrent to others. Naismiths movement and link up play have been key to his and our success so I also have no idea where you are coming from there. Our most impressive performances since the arrival of Roberto have included Naismith in the team, that says it all for me.

We all see it differently though mate.
disagree. But that's the point in a forum ey, mate!

davek has become a parody of himself at this point

makes some cracking posts when it doesnt come to naisy, its sad to see

At the outset @davek trashed Naismith.

Now dogged by his ideology he hasn't changed his view and rather than give Naismith plaudits he negatively spins and briefs against him constantly.

Once you see this its easy to decipher the hidden subliminal messages to undermine Naismith in his posts.

I find it enlightening given I championed Naismith from the start :coffee:

It's ok, @chicoazul and @bluejock slated him behind his family, when he scored the winner against Chelsea, ON HIS BIRTHDAY!!

And now he's boss....

No but certain other players could offer the team more in that position. Nais has been brilliant so far but I think Barkley knits the midfield and attack together better.

Sure, Barkley is ten times the player when he's on form and your post is perfectly reasonable, however, yours isn't the kind of view on the matter I was referring to.

Personally - and it's taken me a long time and a lot of excellent performances to get to this point - I'm starting to feel like it's difficult to leave the fella out of the side, even with players returning to fitness. He's a proven slotter now and offers much more to us than just that. Clubs are paying huge sums of money for what he does and often the players they're buying don't do it nearly as well. We can rely on him to score goals and I'd feel more confident of a goal, whether we're playing well or not, as long as he's on the field. He certainly doesn't hinder our build up play as the Burnley and Lille games have shown recently.

He's in a really excellent vein of form and I'm glad he's doing as well as he is, but this is where the manager has to earn his wages. Naismith isn't going to win us every game and we've got one of the best young players in the country ready to go. Rotating between those two while keeping them both hungry is a horrible balancing act for Martinez.
You could maybe put both in behind Rom and put Pienaar on the left. That could work.
