It's obvious that davek likes skillful players who have a trick up their sleeve, nothing wrong with that. Every team/squad needs a Naismith though, he's invaluable! He is a proper team player, very unselfish! He's clever, he knows his limits, it's a great quality to have! Yes his technique sometimes lets him down but at times it's top drawer ie. his goal against Lille

I'm starting to think you might be one of these horrible rangers-supporting cretins that genuinely want to see the lad's legs broken because he dared to leave a thoroughly sunken ship in order to further his career! Tell me it ain't so @davek

Ha Ha.

Yeah, I'm loyal and true blue.

I love seeing Naismith score more than anyone else on the team, maybe tied with Lukaku. He just deserves it so much.

Also - I think it's kind of become a cliché to say he's a 'limited but hardworking player' due to his attitude and workrate, but honestly for me that really undermines his genuinely good technique (at least recently). He has really good and quick feet, has had some excellent quick passing around the box sometimes this season.

Edit: also @davek has put his hands up and said that Naismith has gone up in his estimation this season so I don't know why you're all getting on his back so much

Even under Moyes while lacking in confidence and being played on the wing for his work-rate alone, you could still see an intelligence about him. Under Martinez his constant movement to recieve the ball, lead defensive pressing from the front or pull out defenders off the ball is a class above, not to mention he is probably one of our most natural finishers in years. I never saw him play for Rangers, but I suspect the latter is the player they knew.

What riles me is this BS "god loves a trier" tag he seems to have from some in the media, he's not a trier, he's a bloody good footballler in his own right.

Nail on the head mate. A good team needs a balance of players with different qualities. Over and above his obvious qualities he gives us a competitive edge no matter who he comes up against, the type of edge that sees him rise above 6ft plus defenders to win the ball in the air.

good player but people are going overboard on him. He isn't the most intelligent player, Eto'o or baines probably take that easily.

He's not the best at anything at the club, but he's good at lots of things.

Playing him does sometimes deter our better and more important players.

Good squad option and top lad. But think Eto'o, barkley, rom, all ahead of him. Wouldn't start him above any of them.

I value 'Naisy'. I just dont think he deserves the OTT plaudits.

Some people are easily pleased.
Our appraisal of him may be OTT but the national media attention is very much UTT. I mean, his goal on Thursday was absolutely brilliant, very Aguhero-esque. Didn't get more than an obligatory note on TV or in the newspapers.

He's not a star name, and the EL is not taken seriously until the later stages.

Where do you start with this rubbish, another common myth. Naisy is very much a team player, in what way is his involvement a deterrent to our 'better and more important players'?

Not rubbish. He hasn't got the drive that Barkley does where he can take the ball to the other end of the field.

He doesn't have the goal tally that Lukaku has [please don't use this season as a judgement because it'll be completely different by the end of the year].

His link up play isn't that good, and when naismith plays we have to change to make him the focal point.

I think he's great for coming on against teams and getting into spaces, but there players i listed are all better.

Difficult to compare him to Barks and Rom, different types of player who offer different qualities. Both these lads have got bags of talent but have yet to reach their potential which we all hope they can.

Naismith is playing very well for us and I would refute the suggestion that his inclusion is a deterrent to others. Naismiths movement and link up play have been key to his and our success so I also have no idea where you are coming from there. Our most impressive performances since the arrival of Roberto have included Naismith in the team, that says it all for me.

We all see it differently though mate.
