He gets on my tits with his soundbites and best nodding dog impression, but does anyone actually know anything about him?

What's his pedigree? Does anyone ITK know what the opinion of him inside the club is? Is he genuinely a yes man or is does he actually know his stuff?

Just curious, to be honest.

Dont know anything about him except he arrived with a very good reputation. Moyes has irvine back on the staff now so if he isnt happy it would be easy to make the change.

His career was cut short by injury he was a full back at Derby, he joined the coaching staff there were he first linked up at McClaren. McClaren took him to Midlesbourgh - were they enjoyed success in the cups and Europe. When McClaren was made Engerland coach he brought round into the set up. He had a big falling out with Southgate at Middlesbourgh then went to work at Newcastle under Sam Alladyce before Davey went in for him in 2008.

I never understand the criticism of the lad tbh - he seems to take on an awfull lot of responsonility and Davey seems to trust him.

Id like to circumvent* Steve Round.

*AD reference to thread title

Hehe.

I have this niggling feeling though that he doesn't challenge Moyes as much as say, Irvine, did. It's very speculative so I may be completely wrong, but I get the feeling Moyes would prefer to have an assistant manager that agreed with him rather than one that clashed heads with him.

But from a fan's perspective I'd rather someone who questioned his decisions and wasn't afraid to shake his head, rather than nod it. I repeat though; this is speculative.

I have no idea if hes good or not mate - frankly i dont think anyone has - it does seem that Moyes trusts him though and i expect before he poached from Newcastle he would have done his research. As far as i know the coaching staff from the ground up work as a team with Davey. Some of the underage coaches are asked and give their opinion on the first team and potential players etc - in that sense its great that Irvine is back in addition to Round.

I just never understand some of the ire on here that surrounds Round - or the reasons for it.

Moyes doesn't suffer fools so he must be doing the business.

All this he doesn't stand up to Moyes thing is idle online gossip, absolutely no one knows that, but he's another potential scapegoat for when Everton aren't winning and dummies need chucking out of the pram.

Whenever I think of Round I remember that post match rant at the officials against United at home when they blew for FT as Everton were on the attack. Moyes got to them first and gave them some stick - mini-me got there a second later and tried to do the same.

He's like Phil Neal to Graham Taylor:
"Do I not like that, Philip?"
"No, boss".

Good points.

For the record I don't have anything against him. I don't like to have opinions on things which are founded on speculation, as you know. I just wanted to a.) See if anyone genuinely knew anything about him and b.) Use that Reach-a-Round pun.
