Steve McManaman 5 Live

It was the 83rd minute before either Mac or Ian mentioned the name "Arteta". How do you do an Everton match and go 83 minutes without mentioning that Arteta is not out there?

Other than that, I love this pair. I thought Mac was spot on about us. Said many times that we were better than our position in the table would indicate.

Don't worry lad. A long working week a few beers does that to me an all lad.

Listened to 5 live coming back from Stamford Bridge and the ******** who had been at the game said Everton played a "poor Chelsea side" no credit for us, isn't that just typical

but its not exactly a lie is it, they did have players missing and coming back from injury.

Touchy.

Gave us alot of credit in the 2nd half. And Chelsea was downright awful in the 2nd half. There is a reason why they haven't won in a month.

I've always been a 'fan' of Steve. He never made it uncommon knowledge that he was a boyhood Evertonian, whilst playing for the R.S. and he proved he could take a joke when Soccer A.M used to play their weekly game of 'Macca watch' when he played for Madrid and the arrow would always end up pointing at the subs bench.

Many years ago, I used to be a pitch steward at the Old Lady and part of our duty was to be there TWO HOURS before k.o on match days. The day of one of the derbies, the R.S turned up and did their pitch inspection and walked to the centre circle glued to their mobiles and genuinely being aloof to everyone around them - except one. Some kids had arrived early and where behind the Street End goal screaming various players names. In my years as a steward there, including Everton players, Macca is still the only player I've ever seen walk the entire length from the centre circle to behind the goal to sign autographs for the kids- Even that of the opponents team !! Top bloke :)

I love McManaman, there's something so brilliantly hilarious about how serious he comes across when making points, you genuinely have to believe him, it's great.

Wow.

I thought it as abysmal commentary.

It was all Chelsea are great this, and Chelsea are amazing that.

Up until we scored the other [Poor language removed] had already chalked it up to a Chelsea win, in fact, he even said it right before half-time!

And then there was the sniggering comments about hoof ball and how 'He must get loads of practice at training'.

Can't believe you all missed that.
