Stature

Do I need to draw a diagram or something FFS?!

1 - It's a cup we're not focussing on, so I don't care if we go out of it.

2 - If we won it whilst rotating our squad to do so, great, but I don't think we should focus on it with a first choice side to do so.

3 - I don't think a League Cup win would make any difference whatsoever to our stature as a football club.

I can't put it any clearer than that.

You could, like.

I don't think you understand the words 'care' and 'want' exactly. If you want something to happen you care about it at least a little bit. You can't not care about us going out and want us to win it at the same time.

I'm starting to think this thread was created so Tubey and Brennan could just go tit for tat. I know where i'm not wanted.

No it's a genuine question that's being hi-jacked for some reason. I feel I'm a fan of a big club regardless of a League Cup win, but I was alive for when Everton last won a cup, so I'm wondering if that makes a difference.

I'm not being condescending by asking the question, but I'm just wondering if there's a difference in how critical it is for us to win a cup - any cup - because the reaction in the match thread felt like overkill.

I want Everton to win all the time, so if it's a Capital One Cup game and there's a team in Blue out there, I want them to win. If it's a pre-season friendly, I want the win, even if it ultimately means very little. I want us to win every game we're ever involved in.

However, I don't care if we go out of the Capital One Cup, as the emphasis on winning the overall thing was never there. If the manager came out and said "right, we're going for this" and put a full strength eleven, then I'd care, because it was a focus for the club. I wouldn't like it, because I think it'd be a drop in our stature, but I'd be forced to acknowledge the intent.

Not bolding to be condescending, just to clarify the point.

Do I care we lost? You damn right I do, do I care we got knocked out the Disney World Cup? Do I fck.

Goat sums it up in one sentence

So putting a full strength side out to win a competition would lose us stature points?

What about the big club stature trophy?

Maybe two league cups and an FA win you a stature shield.

Maybe you need to re-read my post Azz.

I was fuming / now annoyed, we didn't go ball out to win the league cup.

Im old enough to know what winning trophies feels like.. and we need one.. desperately.
