So.. pay £60m for Rodriguez and offer him 220k per week?

If only it were that simple.

In the end mate, no one knows what will happen unless you take the risk

Robinho going to City was as much of a shock as Rodriguez going to us would be, hell the player himself at his unveiling said it was great to move to chelsea if i remember it correctly, agents control the game, we convince his agent about the direction we are heading, we offer his client a huge financial package to come and we give him a contract buy out for the right amount should we not deliver on our goals

Here's my statement of intent.

Everton keeps all of their best talent and raises the money for FFP wage issue with these below. Pick and choose. They are all replaceable in a heartbeat...

-McGeady
-Lennon
-McCarthy
-Cleverley
-Barry
-Besic
-Mirallas
-Niasse
-Oviedo

Heck if we hit a brick wall then there is always...

-Coleman
-Funes Mori

Are you all telling me that John Stones isn't more valuable to us than a combination of any of the above that would raise more than enough to help us out with the FFP wage issue?

I don't think it's realistic at all to even consider it. Got to remember City's owners are far richer than Moshiri. There is no way he would consider a move to us.

I'm all for signing some top class footballers and I know money talks, but would these players be willing to come with no European football and finishing bottom half the last 2 seasons? I think some of the players being talked about might be more realistic in a couple of years time if we've managed to establish ourselves.

Here's hoping all footballers are just greedy and in it for the dough

for a starter it isn't FFP.
It's Short Term Cost Control as per the Premier League.
In order to generate the % for wages we must generate a profit from selling those players.
We won't generate anywhere near the amount we would from selling Stones or Lukaku.
It's as simple as that, in order for us to afford the exorbitant wages we will need to we need to generate a sufficient net profit on these players.
If you look at those players, realistically you might make 10 million off McCarthy, Mirallas and Cleverly, but the others you would likely be running at evens or a loss.

City bid on Kaka and got ridiculed at the time for it mate, now they've just appointed the best manager in the game. plus at the time of the takeover when they got Robinho - no one thought that what happened with city would quite go as big as it did.

things change, James is in a similar boat to Sanchez before he went to Arsenal, looked world class at previous clubs, and on the international stage, went to biggest club/s in the game and became a squad player their, botht he rs and Arsenal wanted him and IF the rs would have paid enough then london or no london he would have went their, but their owners as they have frequently done, baulked at the price and let Arsenal get ahead of them

Right now looking at the premier league from afar as they will do, the current champions are Liecester, United arent in the CL only the EL, Liverpool and United arent even in Europe.

Besides for Arsenal 2 of the top 4 and 4 of the top 7 from last season would have been more likely to find in the Championship or lower divisions than in the European spots 10 years or even 5 years ago.

Two of the biggest clubs 15 years ago where nothing yo-yo clubs, ignore the sky drivel and think about it for a moment

Thanks for that mate. Point made.

May I ask then what exactly Mr Moshiri had in mind when he took over the club then and stated...

"There is much to be done and things for me to learn, but I can confirm that I have committed to providing additional funds for transfers and retaining our key players to ensure that we have a strong ore to build on for the future."

Be nice to make the world take notice of us again. It has to fit with what the managers needs but, making a splash on the world stage would be nice

he has leanred that to fulfill his ambitions with the club we need to massively hike the wages up mate and need to make a tough decision about which player we let go, out of the three that had that sort of value

Utterly ignoring the players they may all become in the future, was Stones in our top 5-6 performers last season? - before the wheels came off the season and everyone went dire around the Arsenal game obviously

Kithnou, look through esks posts on the topic. Moshiri could make 500m available for the team, but we still couldn't spend it under stcc. The sale of a Stones type player is required to push up the available profit amount, in order to get around the annual percentage limit.

Stones' 2nd half at Wembley in the FA Cup Semi Final should be a reminder to all what a talent we have. Clueless Manager has departed. A season ago we were comparing him with Beckenbauer mate. Remember that?

I have never said that the lad isn't an incredible talent mate and have held the opinion he will go on to be one of the very best, and i went through the exact same line of thinking you are with esk the other day about ways around it and options etc, end of the day though the owner has a plan of what he wants to do, and financially the onyl way it is achievable immediately is by selling someone for a huge profit, stones will go and in comparision to how i felt when Rooney left us it will barely register with me.

Unlike with that sale though, we arent doing it to survive or because we have been mismanaged by the owners (well in a way it is because of the legacy of that - but thats for a different thread) it is to allow the team overall to improve and become better than it would be without selling him, we may not see anothe rcb playing here for a long, long time as good as Stones will become, but we may just come out watching an Everton team better because of what it allows us as a club to do after selling him
