The stuff concerning Knowsley MBC, Tesco and Merseytravel and rail improvements defies belief! Merseytravel are like nodding dogs and cant do what they promised they could do as the ultimate determinator of what's possible, Network Rail, indicate:


"...it seems the Applicants and the Council are intent only on scraping together a bare minimum of measures to convincingly dispense with the serious transport flaws within this whole project. And the use of the word ‘even’ by Mr Ravero can only be intended as reemphasis of the dissatisfaction Network Rail has with the Applicants’ figures."


In short, their transport plan has been savaged by a very big fish in the pond. And, I hear, the applicants have stepped over the line from information to misinformation in other areas of their evidence. Basically, they are liars and have been found out. Something the Inspector will have to report back to the S.o.S in her report.
 

Is that all EFC's fault or were they being told mis-information?
Or were they all just making [Poor language removed] up and hired yes men?

It's not really EFC's fault at all, it's their 'partners'...and, in the instance concerning rail travel, the local transport authority, Merseytravel (who no doubt want Kirkby to go ahead because they have invested £70M already in a white elephant tram project from Liverpool to Kirkby). The club has had little or nothing to do with the transport issue.

Ordinarily yes. In the teeth of a recession when unemployment is rising and two thousand jobs are being promised, who knows what Machiavellian tricks are being used behind the scenes to tear up the rulebook? All that said, I dont think it will be given permission.

Regardless of their motivation (and you may well be right), it became pretty obvious quite early on that there were serious flaws in the development. The fact that the club allowed itself to be swept along in such a dodgy venture is a shame - almost as much of a shame as the way it has caused bitterness between groups of fans.

When it was first mooted (and in the manner it was first raised) I was well in favour of the move. As more information became available, my reservations grew (and in the main, information was only flowing from one source - Keyock, as HB so lovingly calls them). As it currently stands, the development seems like a folly.

The flaws with the development would always have been there, and would always have been seized upon by the other Councils and interested parties. Whether KEIOC had been around or not, the development would have been called in, and they will have no impact on the final decision. However, had they not existed, a lot of Blues would have been far less informed as to what was going on, and why we were having to wait for our free, world class stadium with the best transport links in the country. For that, whatever their interests and motivations, I'm grateful

You're right, DK was always going to get called in as it failed a number of generally applied tests straight off the bat.

KEIOC has played its role, though. It's created a network of contacts - from politicians, press, professionals connected with football stadia and the local business community - which has meant an alternative way of solving the stadium conundrum has never been off the agenda...to the great irritation of EFC who have attempted to present Kirkby as a fait accompli. More substantially, as far as the Inquiry is concerned, they have played a massive role in presenting the case against the transport plan. This was not really within the remit of the combined authorities QC or the QC representing LCC, both of whom are there to concentrate fire on retail floorspace. It's a supporter issue and they [KEIOC] and their expert witnesss have placed major doubts in the minds of everyone that the TA is capable of being implemented.

That I have no doubt. But I've just never liked the arguement of "its in Kirkby so its not scouse" etc etc which was the sole reason the group was forged and the main reason alot of fans voted against it etc in the first place. Untill more information poured out and it gave them more fuel for the fire.

But Just on the back of that and the video of the Everton Valley incident used to scare away folk made them a little seedy and grubby for me, so I'd never really been a fan of them.

They drummed up good evidence but I dont have to like the organisation because of it.
