Stop getting into a one-upmanship on each other, its getting boring.

We have NO MONEY. We cant get NO MONEY. When we try, we cant due to a barage or other people, policies, factors ploughing into them.

So what do we do? Any suggestions or does the club keep doing what its doing to stay afloat? Or does Bill sell to anyone with a tenner and we start from square one?

Despite independent experts giving the green light to Everton, of course it was going to get rejected again, why? As LCC council leader Warren Bradley said;
"As a City Council leader more than an Evertonian, do we really want to see a commercial business the size of Everton move out of the city? Of course we don't"

"It would be a sad day because a lot of the businesses that have survived because of Everton wouldn't continue to have that under-pinning support.

What we have got to is do all we can to retain Everton in Liverpool"

With that in mind, they aren't going to approve a venture which would help fund our move... are they?

But of course, LCC can do no wrong. Kenwright out and all that.

It simply wont do to frame the argument in terms of other people/organisations frustrating us in moving forward. We've had a catalogue of opportunities to push this club on since you know who took control: a sponsorship deal with NTL that failed to be secured; the Kings Dock stadium; an era of football club takeovers passed us by because our club were only for sale 'to the right people' (ie not for sale).

There's always a bogeyman to blame though: Gregg, LCC, Governemt Inspectors, the recession....

In terms of what do we do: the first step on that journey, when/if the Kirkby fiasco is put to bed, is to acknowledge that the present regime has totally and utterly failed the club and that their time is up and take it from there.

Is the Government Inspector, Karen Ridge, in on this anti-Everton crusade?

Ah, so Karen Ridge is the be all and end all? If a load of 'Travellers' decided they were going to live 150ft away from you, with absolutely no planning permission. Would you approve? ;

If she can approve the likes of that, then building good houses on derelict site shouldn't really be an issue - especially when the planning has received approval from various independent bodies.

The truly disappointing aspect of this is that the politcians who run this city went against the recommendations of the Council's own planning experts. In such circumstances you have to ask, why is that? What is the point in employing experienced and learned experts if you are simply going to ignore their advice?"Over the past few years we have constantly shown a willingness to work with Liverpool City Council to safeguard the long-term future of our football club...sadly, it does not appear to be a reciprocal arrangement.
"The council's own Director of Planning threw his weight behind this project - he believed it to be both sensible and suitable - and so did we."

Everton FC’s £10m Bellefield homes plan refusal is 'council's punishment'Jan 21 2009

EXCLUSIVE by David Bartlett, Liverpool Daily Post

EVERTON FC has lost an inquiry to build homes on its former training ground, resulting in the loss of up £10m for the club.
The club’s board of directors and chairman Bill Kenwright were last night understood to be furious about the decision.
The income from the sale of the land was due to part-fund the club’s £78m contribution towards its proposed move to a new home in Kirkby, which is currently the subject of a separate public inquiry.
The Daily Post understands the loss, between £8m and £10m, will not impact on the proposed move, as the club will now find the cash elsewhere.
Last night, a source close to the club hit out and said: “It does now seem as if certain individuals and the council are determined to ruin Everton Football Club.”

The Daily Mail eh?!!!

Good example, though, of how consistent Ridge is. That case with the 'load of travellers' as you put it, demonstrates a concern for the health and well being of people, just as she was at West Derby over the loss of green space for people there. Coming down in favour of the disadvantaged.

Still, that wasn't really the question. Is Ridge acting in cahoots with LCC in a political decision to deny Everton FC money in order to keep EFC in Liverpool?

The question doesnt need answering, the answer is obvious to anyone

Everton fury at Bellefield homes blow - Liverpool Echo.co.uk

Today Everton’s acting chief executive Robert Elstone said: “The truly disappointing aspect of this is that the politicians who run this city went against the recommendations of the city council's own planning experts
“In such circumstances you have to ask, why that is. What is the point in employing experienced and learned experts if you are simply going to ignore their advice?

That's disappointing from Elstone, who is supposed to be a level headed man and progressive. It saddens me that he's stooped to this sort of level.

Well said Elstone, the more i hear him speak the more i like him. He should be given the job permanently

Must admit, I am delighted with the way Elstone conducted himself.

Its blatantly obvious the decision is politically motivated, even the most staunch anti-Kirkby/Kenwright person should see that.

I feel for Elstone. He's obviously a smart feller, but he's been handed a complete dogs breakfast of a plan to deal with from his predecessor. But for him to burn bridges with the club's council for the forseeable future in this way leaves us exposed for that future. He really is sinking to the level of all the rest of them down at the L4 Politburo.

He used to have a good job at Deloitte too. I reckon he'll be back with them again soon enough.

Behave, its quite clearly LCC who started the fire in that respect.
