This is your journey to and from Kirkby by train...

You arrive at Lime Street and walk through the city centre of Liverpool to Central Station

Assuming you want to get to Kirkby early, you'll probably be on a moderately busy train to Kirkby station - you might even get a seat - which is a 15 minute walk from the proposed ground.

After the match, assuming you want to leave straight away, you walk 15 minutes to the station, and wait for the next train to Liverpool. Trains are every 15 minutes, which, if everything runs smoothly, can be increased to every 10, and hold 900 people if you stand VERY close together.

The club estimate that 4,000 fans will want to go this route.

If you are fan number 1 to 900 then you're onthe first train. You might get a seat, or you might be forced to stand chest to chest with an away fan.

Anywhere after that and you've got a wait. With up to 3,000 other Blues, and if we've played Man Utd or City, up to 2,000 of them too.

Your wait may be 10 minutes for the next train, or 30 for the 4th train.

If you are on the fourth train, you will be waiting in the carpark, which doesn't have a roof (and there are no plans to build one according to Merseytravel who operate it)

So, 30 minutes in May - that's nice, get a decent tan.

30 minutes in December, in the rain. Not so nice. That's after a 15 minute walk, in the rain.

You are then crammed onto a packed train standing as near as possible without getting naked to hoardes of other fans who will be as soaked as you. Your ride to Liverpool Central is roughly 12 minutes.

In August or May, after a win, that's bearable - just about.

In December or January after a defeat?

Of course, there are pubs in Kirkby you could go to after the game. Or the club could enforce one of it's ideas and keep fans (home fans included) locked in the stadium for an hour after the final whistle.

Either option is fine if you've not got to get anywhere, or you like a drink, or if you're even in the mood for a drink. Although this is more likely after a win, and probably more likely when the sun is shining as even the best pubs around Goodison end up packed with people ending up stood outside...

Kirkby is a £25 taxi ride from Liverpool City Centre though, if you would prefer that....

How long does it take you to get home from a match?

Here was mine from Kirkby last time.

Everton vs Boro 1pm KO.

12:00pm - Kirkby - cab to the Bakery in Rice Lane - (£10).
12:20pm - Beers
12:40pm - 15-20 min walk to GP.

(Alternatively a 20minutes bus ride to GP from Kirkby (I've done it plenty of times).

Match finshes 2:45pm -

2:50pm - Exit GP
3:30pm - Finally found a bus (cramped, standing up for 60% of the journey, wet) to get on to Kikrby.
5:00-5:30pm - Get back to Kirkby.

ALTERNATIVE TO CITY CENTRE ON BUS (Everton Vs Newcastle end of last season) - Same times but

4:30pm - get into city centre on bus (with away fans too) from GP.

Doesnt sound any different to me.

What you can do from Kirkby - Go the pub. Get a cab (cost of £10-£20, drops you off near GP). Get the bus (keep your savaways handy). How do you get to the ground? Park up directly outside Goodison, dodgy the rain and get in? Thousands talk 15-20 minutes walk to and from GP every match day.

As for the trains - Like they'll put the fans home and away fans all on one train? Behave. EG There's express trains to Old Trafford on match days from Picadilly every 10 minutes. They cope.

As for keeping fans back an hour. You're gonna be waiting in traffic for an hour anyway, wont it be slightly more easier? Motorway next door, dual carriageways?

Just a few things really. I know the transport thing is a shitty, it sounds shitty. But the transport to GP for me is shitty too.

it's shitty because you live in Kirkby ;)

we park either on St Domingo Road or on Cherry Lane

about 10 minutes to the ground and back

we either dive out down County Road or towards town

leave ground - walk to car (10 minutes) - drive home (10 minutes)

at worst, leave ground - walk to Robson Street (10 minutes) - get a cab - into town along Robson Street then Everton Road (10 minutes and a fiver) and bus home (20 minutes)

or - leave ground, walk to Robson Street (10 minutes) - get a cab home (15 minutes and a tenner)

45 minutes after final whistle I'm at home and walked for a maximum of 10 minutes, come rain or shine. get changed and go into town with the bird.

easy life

hbl, save the trouble and tell the next excuse in case HOK did come out and said it's a real document? Maybe they are in it too and created a FAKE document!

Or would it be enough if officials think so? Why not? Have KEIOC brainwashed them?

Ohhhhhh so its out of your comfort zone is that why?

if I was bothered about "comfort zone" then I'd never have moved from St Domingo Grove mate! 15 minute walk to the match if I went the quick way, half an hour if I went through Stanley Park and down Priory Road to take in our history.

getting to and from the match does play a big part for me though, as it does for many blues - just like other people are bothered about the toilets or getting a pie at half time

I will never set foot inside an Everton stadium in Kirkby though, so it'll never bother me from that point of view - although transportation isn't the biggest thing for me

I've watched Everton through thick and thin, been there in the days of 20,000 attendances and watching us get beat 6-2 away at Villa Park. I've continued to go through relegation scraps and even keep the faith that Moyes might get back to playing good football again at Goodison - but I will never go to watch Premier League football live in Kirkby.

I know people who have stopped going already because of it, and judging by the attendances they're not being replaced - of course others have stopped going for other reasons so the attendances are low - that isn't because of Kirkby alone - but unless those of us that won't go are replaced, then Kirkby will be an even bigger mistake than I already think it will be.

It just doesn't sit right. And there has been nothing at all come out to convince me that I'm wrong. All the press has been about how we need a new ground - and I don't question that - but none of it has been about why Kirkby is the right ground for us.

Good to see hbl up to his old tricks again.

You've demanded to see this HOK Sports report. KEIOC release it. You claim it's a fake.

You're an absolute joke.

Excellent work by the lads of KEIOC examining Elstone, sounds like they scored quitea few points against him. Sad thing is, most people would just read what the OS puts up, so wouldn't read about when Elstone was shown up.

For all the few who still think Kirkby is a good idea, all i can do is point you towards the CABE report, the government body. They have no agenda. Just to give their opinion about the proposals. They described it as a "missed opportunity" and "not good enough for Everton Football Club". Says it all.

When this farce comes to an end, i'll certainly be raising my glass to KEIOC and thanking them for all their hard work.

Is this the mighty HBL? if so, i wont hang around debating with a one-eyed visionary, but in answer to your query, i suggest you read transcripts of the inquiry so far;

It is apparent that the asset value of EFC will increase to a larger figure if we move to Kirkby. Who benefits from this increase? the only people? The shareholders when selling their shares.

This isnt open for debate, its a fact, and is marked down as testimony in the enquiry. So HBL would you agree or disagree?

Once answering that question, ask yourself if an investor putting in hundreds of millions into a new stadium would be concerned of a return, or would he simply sell his shares at a value determined by himself, as a result of the 'asset' they had paid for?

Why is Newcastle United worth more than EFC? Man City? In fact, anyone with a shiny new stadium has a more valuable asset to sell. You put more money in, you will more than likely get MORE money out.

So for love of jesus christ, stop using finance as the determing factor for moving to Kirkby, it is a white elephant.

So, the reason we have no money? Kenwright
the reason Kirkby is the destination? Kenwright needs help
the reason we have to move now? Kenwright wont get as much back as he wants if he sold now

The solution?

Buyers for our club arent growing on trees, we all know that......so we can can wait to get permission to build a city centre stadium, ie, LCC saying its a goer, and a takeover of the club ensues. Kenwright could do the decent thing and hunt 24/7 for that buyer, but we know he isnt. Therefore getting turned down for this disgraceful move, getting LCC to the media and say we'll investigate Loop, and someone somewhere, sees a chance.

Once Kenwright goes, things could move. Until he does, we stand still or go backwards.

I cant put it any plainer, debate it all you like, i am past caring of bringing people up-to-speed

I think it's a bit bad when someone like Halewood Blue is allowed to hijack and disrupt a thread of this size and on an issue of this importance. I'm sure admin must be sick of him too.......

I would agree with Kenwright will get more for shares if/when he takes us to kirkby......and your problem with this is what?
So not only will Bill deliver a brand new stadium which we badly need he will then sell to a very rich man who will take us forward. Whats the problem? Delivers a new stadium and sells us to a rich man....Double whammy from super bill.
FACT is there is no site capeable of fitting a new stadium in the LCC boundaries, prove there is

So far in your 2 or 3 posts you have only slagged me off, i am debating the issue which is more than you are doing so with that in mind....be quiet

I've already posted the link in this thread.

And i dont have a problem with Kenwright upping his stake, but if he (and you for that matter) love the club so much, why use a stadium in Kirkby to do it?

The fact you agree that is the result of move must mean that the same would happen if it were a shiny new stadium in the city?

He just cant afford to move us there - Someone else could if they knew it was a goer planning and building wise.

I dont believe that report, otherwise it would be plastered all over the key ock website, it isnt.
The fact our loveable neighbours have already refused that site for the same reasons might give you a clue about that site but apparently not. If its as attractive as you suggest where are the buyers? Bill could easily be ousted in the press if he was refusing good buyers, the fact is no-one wants us without this stadium
