Bear with me on this: I've always been open minded about a joint stadium with the 'other lot' (better not call them by the usual name if I'm going to be open minded!) so here's the rub:

Everton at Goodison - we stand still
Everton outside the City - a non-starter
Everton renting New Analfield - no chance..

so, the way forward, barring a miracle sugar Daddy and an incredible change of heart by the Council, is, I believe, to be full partners in a Council owned joint stadium - one where the public are the owners, no pride is swallowed and it's not a case of Everton renting the use of their stadium..

So why 'Stadium 260' you ask? Because any joint stadium would (obviously) have naming rights but.. hey do you think it's going to be the Shankly-Dean stadium - or for that matter the Dean-Shankly stadium (you get the idea!) - No - of course not!!

Where does 260 come from then? Well Everton were founded in 1878 and The Other Lot in 1892. That's respectively 132 and 118 years ago (a total of 250 years of history). So in five years time that will be 260 years and it would be a nice way to recognise, jointly, the great histories of the 2 clubs - without overstating one or the others history. Now I realise we'll latch onto the "we're 14 years older than you" line - except of course they can throw back the "we've won more than you" line - which means neither side gets to lord it over the other on this issue....

What do you think? Surely this new modern stadium with the usual shopping and parking facilities in or close to the centre of the city (you know Project Jennifer or the Kensington redevelopment)....

I agree with this. I just don't think Liverpool is big enough or rich enough to support two modern stadia. It's got to be public owned, with everything split evenly.

I've always been open to a stadium share on stanley park, in theory we could have a gwladys street and they could have a kop - opposite goals; for our home games the kop would house away fans and vice versa. A red end, a blue end and the two big stands main stand and bullens/centenary equivalent could be a neutral colour, let's say white. Behind "our goal" we could have dixie and behind theirs they can have the flame/gates of shankley/statues etc...
We'd both get a better stadium than going alone would provide, we've moved to the land occupying no mans land and its great for the city!!

i'm not open to it anymore.

was but not now, it will never end up equal and it will facilitate them more than us.

do tesco need a foothold anywhere with a liverpool postcode?

a well put statement but i would rather be dragged over burning coals before we shared a ground with them across the park, i hope this never happens and we need our own identity rather than be those who just paid half the running costs of the rs new ground.

So share the running costs proportionately - Everton X games, Liverpool Y games - with some of it met through the ticket prices..

fair point but i can hear the rs now to poor to pay your own way, your just squatting at our expense i couldnt take it mate

No and neither could I - which is why a Council owned stadium alleviates the presumption that we're 'just squatting in their brand new all singing all dancing stadium'

again a fair point but the media wouldnt care about that or other teams it would always be talked about as there ground. your reasoning makes good financial sense but it would never wear with the majority of blues

I know it's petty, but I just couldn't ever support a joint stadium. Even if it technically were not the case, the Kopites would make us feel like lodgers in their posh apartment.
