Is any English forum member going to actually celebrate this or arsed about it for that matter?

I mention it because I hear that Liverpool City Council are 'bowing to pressure' to throw Cross of St George flags up on County Road, West Derby Road, Walton Lane, Heyworth Street etc in the north end. Who in the name of all that's holy would want the council tipping up for this when the money could be used on something useful and when there's never seemed to be a big momentum behind this event in the past?

I will be putting my St Georges flag out of the window.

Good on you. I hope you dont have anyone near by who would be offended by you flying your national flag? It seems you cannot even do that now in your own country. My cousin put his out last year in Brighton, and it started a fight. How anyone can get offended by a flag is beyond me.

In this case it's a council spending money on flags and flagpoles and diverting employees to the work of placing and securing them. That's over and above any cultural criticism (vald in my opinion).

You should always be proud of your heritage and celebrate it when you can. We all lose our identity otherwise.

I'm all for celebrating it if people want to.

It is however a religious day in some respects and I'm not religious so wont be celebrating, I would do so before I'd celebrate any of the others though.

You've just answered the issue there for me with your attitude.

You gonna be out celebrating then?

Gonna embrace it because you can or be one of those idiots who sit and moan about how you can't celebrate it when in reality you can and there is nothing stopping you, infact in plenty of places its encouraged.
