Just because Guaye is relatively unknown to us though doesn't mean he's unknown to Moyes. I doubt many here would advocate putting Beckford on instead of Saha for instance, but it seems to be that if we didn't know anything about Beckford that is what is being suggested, just because he's unknown.

Do you not think though that Moyes signs players because he needs them for the bench.

I suspect Guaye was signed as a bit of a gamble really to see what kind of player he turned out to be. If we had Ossie, Rodwell, Arteta, Fellaini and so on available then I doubt he'd make the bench, so Moyes had his hand forced today.

But there's a pattern which goes back years that Moyes is really slow at introducing new young players to the first team. Of our current players there's the likes of Baines, Coleman, Rodwell ect all of whom had to wait for a real run and all of whom looked more than ready when they did get the go ahead. I don't think its out of order to suggest we could mabe bring people on a little faster. Like I said my main worry is we'd be messing with a winning formula.

I suppose one thing to consider is that they may look good because they've had time to become ready?

That's a very good point.

We see what happens on Saturday/Sunday. Moyes sees what happens Mon-Fri mornings. I trust Moyes will use the players at the right time as he not only wants to see the team do well, but he doesn't want to destroy someone's confidence either.

It took awhile for Coleman to find a place in the team but he eventually did.

Does anyone think that Moyes doesn't really try untried players unless he really has to. For example this Guaye lad, what's the point in signing him to leave him on the bench?

The subs coming on today were obvious, and all the subs that come on are obvious all season.

People like Guaye may start to think, well if I can't get a game with 5 top players out, what chance do I have? Sometimes you need to take a chance on players, he's certainly pushing Billy more often then he should in a wide position.

Or is this just the way the league is, and no side really brings different subs on, unless they are out of sight.

Oh my God.

The moaning on here today is a joke. A real joke.

I agree. Moyes takes his time, always has done. He is the Bossman so it's up to him.

Can't argue with that, Moyes is inherently cautious.
