Little bit jealous that Spurs have a proper winning manager at the helm now, they are soft and always cough when it comes to winning something. Jose wins things, at the end of the day if it means parking the bus and getting a trophy with a bit snarl, yes please EVERTON, entertainment and yer sir no sir attitude can go a do one in the middle table somewhere.

Man United were a mess when he took over, and they still are. Their problems run far deeper than just the manager. In any case, he finished 2nd, won the Europa League and the League Cup and got them back in the Champions League.

Mourinho is one of the most successful managers of all time.

And then he also got them back out the champions league. He had to gamble to get them back in as they were out the top 4 and had no chance of getting in it. So he rested players for Europa League games down the stretch, then started off the next year like crap and got fired.

Do people really not remember his time at united? It wasn't like the guy was just cruising to trophies then had some tough luck.

It's all relative though, right? Do United supports think of Jose as a success b/c he won those Cups?

We would certainly b/c of how far we've fallen.

All about perspective.

I don't think that, relative to expectations, anyone can really argue that Jose was a success at United

Well the poster said " People need to move on from this 'Mourinho is a serial winner' crap "

Its not crap, and the Keyword being serial. Porto, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Chelsea again, Man Utd; The fella has won numerous pots, he is a serial winner. The argument of the money being spent, budget and was he a success at United doesn't come into it and is irrelevant. The serial winner tag is not crap.

The fans can have whatever expectations they want. That squad was, overall, pretty mediocre, and he’s done better than most with those players

What’s the old saying?

“One swallow doesn’t make a summer”

He lifts pots wherever he goes. He joined United with them truly struggling, he got them 2nd, a couple of pots and left United as a team in the CL.

I’m not saying he did a great job there, but I don’t think you can say he did a bad one either. All managers, even the very best ones, get sacked at some point. It doesn’t mean they aren’t excellent managers.

And, in any conversation about the all-time best managers, Mourinho would certainly be a part of the discussion for most people.

99.9% of blues would have loved him here.

Early call, I think Mourinho comes in and culls about 8 of Spurs starters immediately.

Rose, Aurier, Lloris, Alderweireld, Eriksen and Sissoko will all go within 12 months. I also think he’ll fall out with Lucas or Son - which will upset the fans massively.

It’s usually the first thing he does, get’s rid of anyone who has psychologically checked-out already and makes an example of a fan-favourite.

Agree, but worried we will buy some of these schmucks at vastly inflated prices.

I wish we had a manager winning minor cups like the Europa League and The League Cup.

We've not touched a pot for 2 and half decades and we have fans turning their nose up at a manager who wins ' minor ' cups and has won all kinds as a manager with multiple teams.

I'd turn my nose up at anyone who destroys a club. Winning isn't everything in football. Some of the fondest moments and legacy's have been created by sides who won nothing. Is Hungary and the 1978 Dutch side

Interesting way to describe a side who'd just won the fa cup... A trophy far more relevant than his 2 trophies

Imagine the fume when we give them their money back on Sissoko

Yeah it’s really important to win things.

Strike that, It’s the taking part that truly matters!

Porto, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Inter Milan have all either gone onto winning numerous more honours, or continued to be a force after Mourinho had left. The exception being United but they were on a slippery slope before he even set foot through the door..... so I wouldn’t say those clubs have been destroyed.

Winning isn’t everything in football hey? 99.9% of our fan base would instantly disagree with that; We are desperate to win something, anything.

Jose will bin off Danny Rose, Erickson and sign Gareth Bale.

Instantly got the feel good factor back.

Gareth Bale who's 31 in 8/9 months, will want paying outrageous wages, has had injury issues and really has nothing else to prove in club football. Yep, proper Mourinho signing. I could definitely see this.

This is exactly the type of short-termism Mourinho has crippled United for years with. But I'm sure all the league titles and CLs he won mean United fans would all tell us it was worth it :coffee:
