They might be paying them the 20% so they might not be having a pay cut at all.

I think to qualify for the 80%, the workers would not be working. The 80% wage is an incentive to retain staff that would have originally been laid off.

Even if that was the case, they’d be using a loop hole to be funded by the government. It’s disgraceful.

im really hoping this forces the game to change for the better now. I see Daniel Levy made a comment in his statement about summer transfer and that people need to wake up and get real or words to that effect. Can you imagine if after doing this spurs or any club for that matter have the audacity to splash £50m on a player without there being widespread condemnation of it?

I don’t see why Everton should feel the need not to splash out in transfers. We’re doing our upmost to keep the city going.

As I said before, I don't think clubs can cut players salaries unilaterally.

I would imagine most clubs are in some sort of discussions with the relevant partiers.

All Well and good, but surely that does not mean they take it out on the poorest, Levy and Ashley are pathetic, horrible creatures.

They already have the sky money and season ticket money in their pockets. Other than sales for food and beer on a match day, which must make up very little income wise (and I’m sure some of these are outside catering), wtf are they losing per week?

It’s not like a small business where their turnover can be week to week or month to month.

It’s a disgrace with all the cash swilling around in football.

I sincerely hope Everton don’t go down this road and if they do I’m done. Thankfully with the delayed renewal date I have time to see how this plays out.

Think some of it is also to do with that greedy muppet Taylor from the PFA who said recently he would create merry hell if clubs tried to cut player wages, he was saying stuff like he would force his members to go on strike and all that stuff, i can't stand him he is such a leech.

I meant its completely legal.

At least the spurs move have highlighted the topic on players not taking a wage cut yet. It's like the PFA have told the players not to take a wage cut so spurs made this move and now pressure back on players.

I'm hoping that the players are in discussion to take a wage cut but they need to hurry up as the weeks are ticking by. Eddie Howe nos taking a huge wage drop, hopefully others follow.
