I think we have seen the last of Gareth Barry. Let him play the last home game and move him on.
He had one job, one reason why he started... to not let Kane or Alli turn and strike on goal. He failed badly for Kane's first. Zero mobility. Schneiderlin had his worst game for us because Barry was suffocating him for space in front of the back 4. They cannot play together.
Agreed!

Having had time to calm down and look back on this i've come to a few conclusions.

Firstly, we were away to the team in second, who had previously won their last 8 at home, we scored twice and were only beaten due to individual errors. While not the result we wanted , far too often we've gone into a big game, conceded and gone on to get battered.

Despite the loss we have improved.
Gareth barry is clearly not an option against mobile, high pressing teams.
Ross is getting better and more influential with every game.
Our manager is not perfect, he made a mistake and hopefully he'll rectify it.
The summer see's us desperately need an improvement on mirallas to play in that position just off rom, another first team quality centre half and a better quality backup striker.

We lost against a great team because of individual errors, yet we only score because of individual errors. We weren't winning at there place, no one will this season.

Onwards and upwards, close the season off with as many points as possible, hope Koeman, Lukaku & Barkley don't leave and see what we can do.

Players up past midnight before the game watching boxing. Not impressed if that's true

Boxing has nothing to do with us whatsoever so why on earth they were allowed to stay up to watch it the night before a game is shocking

Just watching the goals again, while their first should really have been closed down it was exceptional. However goals two and three from them were just abject failures with the defence, we may have well just kicked the ball into our own net. The team is doing OK but our defence really needs sorting out come the summer....

As far as I'm concerned we could replace 3 out of the 4. I hate to say it, but Baines is slowing down, Funes keeps trying to be something he's not (his passes out of the back leave much to be desired), Williams' positioning is questionable. The only useful one is Coleman, and he has weaknesses as well (can't cross a useful ball into the box half the time).

I want to see Holgate get more opportunities; that said, Koeman watches these guys play every day, and if he were showing well in practice I'm sure he'd be getting the nod.

I wonder if his game plan was keep it level for as long as we can tben try and score later on, if it was then only individual mistakes made it fail, mistakes that could of been avoided.
What positive I think we could take is even in games we look to of lost we are still trying to score later on, in fact we have scored a lot of goals late this season, it's been a while since we have played till the end of the game, over recent years we have givin up after 70 minutes but that us no longer the case

I dont know what the usual routine is the night before a game but most of the players will know Bellew and would most probably have found some way of watching the fight in their rooms anyway. The management probably knew this so IF the stories are true the club probably preferred to at least do it in a controlled environment. As long as there was no drinking I cant imagine it could have affected our performance to the extent some are suggesting.

I know absolutely nothing about sport science by the way so happy to be proved wrong if there are any experts out there.

I get that coaches make tactical errors and accept its part and parcel of the game (as long as you dont make too many). It was obvious that neither the personnel or format were working at the weekend and I cant understand why he didnt change things at HT like he did away to Stoke and WBA. We conceded the second and that made it an almost impossible task. Plus he only changed the players not the format, which still left us exposed at the back and lacking any real width.

However it was a game I never expected to win that we luckily still had a chance to get sonething out of upto the end. So hopefully not much damage done and we can get back into winning ways in the next game.
