Spurs spending so far...

Player Valuation: £8m
In January, Alan Hutton £8m, Woodgate £7m. This summer Luka Modric £16.5m, Giovani Dos Santos £4.7m, Heurelho Gomes £7m.

Thats £43.2m spent so far on exciting players.

Anyone else jealous? (n)

7m for Woodgate, no thanks I think we've moved on from perma-crocked players.

also it'll be interesting to see whether Dos Santos and Modric can actually cut it in the premiership. Both look like they need time on the ball to me.

I agree regarding Woodgate, but Dos Santos is richly talented, and medium term might be special.

Completely disagree regarding Modric. He has proven he can cut it against the best English midfielders in the EC qualifiers, and I believe he will be a big success. You only need to look at Fabregas to see that stature is meaningless if you have technical ability.

I would love to have seen either of them at Goodison.

What I don't understand is how Spurs, with a smaller average crowd, and lower league finishes can consistently outspend us by such a huge margin.

They're owned by Joe Lewis, you know the billionaire from Barbados that was linked to all and sundry a while back. They aren't too fussed about turning a profit down there. That and they no doubt charge quite a bit more for tickets than we do.

Makes beating them all the sweeter, they up end their squad with new signings and always take there time to develop cohesiveness and unity, take note all those who want wholesale changes in our own squad.

Dont worry they can spend all they want, they'll still be [Poor language removed]. Their just not a team. They have great players last season an look were they finished!!

It's really not got much to do with their owner. Their revenue is literally twice the size of ours.

Yep, if they stopped arsing about and let the team develop rather than bringing in loads of 'new' so called stars every year they might be a dangerous proposition, but as it is while these clubs keeps doing the 'rebuilding' thing we are replacing them in the premiership pecking order, long may they and others be the architects of their own downfall.

They might be much better next season. They are finally bringing a competent keeper in Gomes for 10M. Luckily, the 2nd worst keeper in the prem (Neimi has a stranglehold on the No1 spot), Robinson is going to Villa so though Spurs should contend for the top 4-6, Villa will drop down to 8-10th.

Nieimi played for Fulham mate and i think he was released in the summer! Think you might mean Radek Černý, he has signed for QPR so as things stand Spurs will just have this Gomes lad.

Neimi got released? Well I guess Robinson is truly the worst starting keeper in the prem now. I don't know how he gets so many chances (not that I'm complaining).

I agree that Spurs will be a threat this year. They showed glimpses of real form last year but were riddled by inconsistency. Starting with a clean slate they'll have much greater motivation.
