ARGH.
Waited all day to watch the game, went to Mom's birthday dinner, then came home and turned my DVR on. Depressed.
Not quite sure what to make of this game. Huffed and puffed in the final third is right. I thought we looked more composed than before - we moved the ball in general better (minus a few bad passes), and our possession wasn't horrible.
But our lack of potency in the final third is still apparent, and Saha had some opportunities - he did! Drenthe had a PK, and Saha had a few decent opportunities too. Not a lot, but they were there.
Cahill kept Modric in general out of the game, but he was defensive in the center, so our lack of creativity in the middle was very very apparent.
And anyone who told me Landon had lost his pace I hope they watched him go toe to toe with Lennon and steal the ball back after playing two 90 minute games in 1 week. Not to be a homer, but he's been a bright spot. However, he still has his problem of not going to goal - still defers too often, so still not playing at his best. But he's been one of Everton's best.
Distin going down = dire. Duffy did okay, so that was a phew. Heitinga had a decent game. Howard didn't.
I'm not going to rehash anymore or join the meltdown, but here's an interesting note:
Did folks notice that Landon and Vic changed places BEFORE Vic was taken off? Landon became 2nd striker pairing with Saha. Wonder what this means for going forward and if that was Moyes recognizing Saha's limitations.
I don't think we're going to be relegated, but we might not be in the top 10 this season if things don't change. Which means less money for next season. Ugh.
