good to hear ross had a good game (from the basis of the people who count) - some of the english punditry is utterly woeful so i bet they clouded over the good things he did and only focused on the bad parts. Same can be said of those on here i suppose.

Savage ripping into Hodgson on BT Sport, saying he's [Poor language removed] basically and how long are they going to give him.

He's cock on aswell, we'll never do nothing under Hodgson, not good enough for the RS, not good enough for England then.

I don't understand how easy a ride he's had, when compared with the proper mullering England managers traditionally get. The only theory I have is that since Capello's England got hammered by Germany in 2010 the fans, FA and media have all massively lowered expectation...perhaps the lowest expectations in England's long history.

TL/DR: England expects sod all.

And last night,they didn't disappoint.

He's a dream of a player.

Don't get me wrong, McCarthy is alright but it's no wonder we can't compete with teams at the top when Arsenal have him playing in the same position.

Nothing wrong with McCarthy. Wenger rates him quite a lot. He was being heavily scouted before he decided to follow Martinez.
Probably the usual crap of Wenger dithering over the price whilst others swoop in.

Pretty much but it was a gradual process during the 00's with the constant hype about the Golden generation that kept failing at tournaments. 2010 finally opened the eyes of people who draped their houses with flags to how mediocre we actually are.

Barkley was good for someone who had Lallana stinking the place out, Kane running away from him every time he got the ball and a midfield two of Delph and Carrick who couldn't retain water.

The gulf in class between England and the top teams is bigger than it ever has been and I think even die hard fans can see that now. Case in point: that was Spain's right back who scored an unbelievable goal last night. Kyle Walker struggles to make a 5 yard pass.

Because hes a yes man he gives the FA no drama and is approachable for the media

Ridiculous hes probably earned the best part of 30 mil during his tenure

Kane up top....Rooney behind him + Barkley in central midfield is how i would line up.

Harry Redknapp would have this side attacking teams and i think he would relish the job + have a huge amount of enthusiasm which would rub off on the team....

Stones and Barkley would have key roles and he wouldnt be playing people like Delph with no game time.

Woeful the other night. Spain were streets ahead technically in every department, and tactically we're beyond inept.

As ever, a great day out (the weather here has been superb) was ruined by the dross Hodgson serves up. Still, it all means next June's trip will keep costs to a minimum when we bow out nice and early.

It all fades into insignificance, though, when you get back to your hotel and turn the truly on and learn watch the events unfold in Paris.
