I don’t believe many games in the season need to be called a season defining. This one certainly isn’t.. but it is an opportunity for sure to give us some breathing space as a few teams dropped points. If we take it our purple patch does look a lot more like real push for the top 4 as we put space between us and the other “middling” clubs, let alone some CL candidates

I can see us getting beat in this one; feel that we'll have everyone and their dog against us when it comes to decisions, the officials, and VAR etc. Having said that, it would be brilliant if we win one-nil and Pickford has an absolute blinder, leading to the press and media fuming that "Pickford won Everton the game and he shouldn't have even been playing... " The meltdown would be unbelievable.

I was reading this thread last night and there was a pop up advert for some clothes site called Nkuku. I kid you not.

Could it be a sign that our young French kid is introduced from the bench to hit the winner?

Although I can see how that would wind the kopites up, I don’t really want to see it. I’m tired of the media having an easy narrative to put down Everton’s achievements. We actually played well in the derby and were unlucky with a few missed chances and some decisions that went against us, but it was all overshadowed because Pickford happened to catch VD.

I’d rather Everton went out this afternoon and delivered a masterclass in attacking football with Pickford having to contribute very little. Ultimately that’ll annoy the RS and the gimps in the media even more.

Delivering a masterclass in attacking football would be brilliant and I would prefer that, but I feel that those in the media and on social media will be having a go at us for a little while longer no matter what we do.

Sadly you are correct that our decent performance etc. in the derby has been overshadowed. Pickford actually made a few very good saves in the game, but they've been pretty much forgotten about because of the incident with VVD and only seem to get mentioned in a "He shouldn't have been on the pitch... " context.

A lot of eyes will be on us today. Quite a few will be wanting to see us get a good beating. There´ll be players in the team who have underperformed over the past year, time they stepped up and put a shift in. If they don´t, it should be the final nail in the coffin of their careers here.

It will be very simple today , if we come out with desire and commitment we will win but if we show up with expectation to win as we are at the top of the table we will lose , everyone will try to show us that we are at the top just temporary so it’s all about us , our focus , confidence and willingness to prove that we are ready, this game and next one with magpies will determine our season , just my thoughts
