From the outset no excuses....but things happen i games sometime that are definitely excuses but out of our control. Like refs being nobbers, injuries and so on.

But no excuses from the things we can control seems fair.

Deffo Ijj, but it will be typical Everton for us to look all leggy and allow our heads to drop after going a goal down, either to see it peter out to a one-goal defeat or grab a late equaliser that does nothing to our league position.

Just smash them, then we don't need to debate.

I'm usually pessimistic for all the reasons described above, but I feel somewhat optimistic about this. I think this squad generally has played better away from Goodison this season, and Southampton play a more open attacking style under the new manager, which is usually a good recipe for us.

There really are no excuses here at all for us as some have said.

They have just played 120 mins and lost which can't be good for morale. They have a few players unavailable and have only won 4 games all season.

We have a fully fit squad, we are coming off a 2 nil win. So we have to do the business here.

...when a team is down on their luck, or when morale is at a nadir and needs restoring, there is no better team to play than Everton.
