I cant think of an Everton player better than him. Outfield included.

He was our one player that you could rightfully say was the best in the world in his position for a large portion of the 80s. Outstanding.

I sign off with this:

"Of course the major finals and medals were great but the older I get I'm more proud of the length of time I stayed at Everton," he added.
"At the time you don't appreciate it because every season is always slightly different. When one finished you just started preparing for the next one.
"But I spent 17 years at the best club in the best city in the world and not many people can say that."

outstanding, as you say chico he was the best in the world.

i like to remind ushited fans who say the red nosed dane is the best ever, that whilst he was there, mr.ferguson actively pursued big nev, and he didnt want him for the reserves.

Schemichel was outstanding too like and rightfully the best in the world for his time.

But, even bias aside, I'd rather have Southall at his peak between the sticks.

daydreams of the Falco save at White Hart Lane, 85*

I so, so hope I get to see an Everton that good again in my lifetime.

I'm almost afraid to say such a thing so whisper it only. I think we may be witnessing the birth of such a team. Lets keep it to ourselves though.

Southall was well better than Schmeichel, he was my hero growing up.

Same here, he is the reason I support Everton. I played every week with my sox round my shins with my shinnies flapping about when I ran! Couldnt quite get the hair right though! But I have never been so happy looking like a tramp in my life!

Legend, its sad how many ex-legends dont have a role at the club, specificaly when you consider the importance of corporate hospitality would do no harm having the likes of Royle, Waggy, Nev and Harvey knocking around on a match day. That said i guess thats a little beneath them, we all miss them not being around the club though.
