Tim Cahill talking to the herald Sun in australia....

SOCCEROO Tim Cahill has promised he will be fit for pre-season training after breaking his foot last month, ruling him out for the rest of Everton's Premier League season.

"I'll be back better than ever," said Cahill, who fractured his foot after a 1-1 draw with West Ham late last month.

In the absence of the goalscoring midfielder, Everton has slipped five points behind Liverpool in the race for fourth place and the Champions League qualifying spot that goes with it.

Cahill has already started rehab and stressed he had wasted no time in ensuring he returned to full fitness.

"I started my rehab program the day after I broke it again," Cahill said. "I am experienced in this game, and I know exactly where I am with my foot injury.

"When it comes to pre-season (training), it will be like I haven't been out of football."

Everton has taken just one point from the past three games, with Cahill playing only 15 minutes.

He started to suffer injury problems in the 1-0 win at Sunderland on March 10, and was on the bench for Everton's UEFA Cup exit at the hands of Fiorentina in a penalty shootout.

He then missed the 1-0 defeat at Fulham and broke down after just 15 minutes of the home draw with West Ham. And the day before Monday's 1-0 defeat against Liverpool, Moyes said Cahill's season was over.

He missed Everton's first 13 matches and it lost five of those. In the next 13, they were unbeaten and Cahill played in 12 and scored six goals.

Lets just hope he's back well an fit for the pre-season. He's a key player when on top of his game. We just hav'nt seen it much this season.

I seem to remember him saying he'll be back better then ever last time....I think this injury will get the better of him 3 breaks in just under a year from the first one?

That's worrying, whichever way you look at it. I hope I'm wrong I'd love Timmy to be fit as a fiddle but that bone just will not heal and nobody is challenging him when it breaks...it just happens.

Hope its right. This season has been awful in terms of his fitness. He did get back to something like his best in October (when he scored on his return against larissa). Hope a good summer's recuperation will get him back to his best

ive heard a rumor on a radio station that he might not come back to play in the world cup qualifer in sydney as he doesnt want to risk being unfit for the new season

good, I'll be glad if he can finally knock this injury on the head with a long rest.

I hope I'm wrong too, but I fear its only going to be a matter of time before it breaks again. Hopefully with a good rest he will finally get back to his best, but if he is playing in constant fear of breaking it again, sadly, he is never going to be the same player.

It may be time to cash in on him. If a decent bid came in and we could sign Sidwell / Howard / Dempsey for a couple of million less it might be good business.

From what I know, the site of a break in bone is afterwards more strong than before the break, due to the nature of the healing process which is something like massive production of new bone, and then carving and shaping the excess down to close to the original anatomy. So I wonder if these breaks are different sites, or whether Tim is coming back without having fully healed

Bad run coincides with Tim getting injured, like ive said here many times we only really understand what Tim contributes to the team when hes not in it.(y)
